new dodge exhaust question...
ok so im new to ram's, this being my first. Ive had a lot of experience with older muscle cars and the exhaust that sounds good on them, This truck is my first vehicle that is newer than 1975. Ive been askin around and i keep getting mixed answers. How can i get more sound out of my stock exhaust? Should i hack the resonators and leave the muffler? hack the muffler and leave the resonators? or will it really make enough of a difference for me to do it before the long tube headers and dual flowmaster super 40's come sometime next year? I have an '04 5.7 hemi. Ive been told i have 2 resonators but ive only spotted one, where exactly are they located? Thanks for the help guys
cats -> y-pipe -> muffler -> resonator.
I think removing the resonator would help some, but it would still have the same stock tone(although not bad!). I removed muffler and resonator and installed one super 40 series... and wow.

yah, removing the resonator would give ya some more sound and of course removing the muffler will give you alot more sound. i cant say as though i'm a huge fan of flowmaster. personally, i like borla alot more then flowmaster but it's each persons opinion.
I agree with HEMIYellow, I am not a fan of Flowmaster. I have Magnaflow and I think they give a more mellow sound without the popping sound you get from a Flowmaster, but really its what you prefer. I took everything off from my cat back hence a catback exaust. The size of the pipes also has something to do with the sound, to small and the exaust is not moving well, to big and the sound just gets washed out. Most shops use 2.5" pipping and that is to small, Dodge recemends 3.0 but no larger than 3.5. Well there is my 2 cents.
