06 Hemi Ram question
Ok, so I own a 2006 1500 Ram with the 5.7L Hemi. I had a magnaflow muffler installed and originally I the kept the resonator on there just to see if I liked it that way. After a while I decided I wanted it a little louder so I got rid of it, and I've been running that way, sounds great!
Recently I had the truck at the dodge dealer for an oil change and the technician noticed I wasn't running the resonator anymore. He said that it was a bad idea to run it that way for a long period of time because of the type of engine it is and that it needs the back pressure from the resonator to run properly. He also said that running it that way for too long could eventually blow the motor and recommended that I go to a certain muffler shop in town and have a flowmaster setup installed.
Has anyone else that has removed their resonator ever heard that it could hurt the engine? - Is there any truth to this? I guess it's possible that maybe the tech. was just trying to get some business for that particular muffler shop.
What do you guys think?

Does your engine have MDS? Maybe that makes a difference, but I'm no technician. All I know, is that I own a 2005 HEMI and when I took off my resonator, it made a HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE difference in sound. Then I took off the resonator of a buddies 2006, and it made next to no difference. They're completely different setups if you ask me.
I've been running with no resonator on my truck almost since day 1. No problems for me. Don't know about the 2006 though.
