Default unhappy dealer expierance...

I was charged $9.00 for a road test to adress my complaints pertaining to a possible brake/alignment issue on a 06 2500 Ram with 10,000 Km.

The 9.00 charge was added to the cost of a oil change and it turns out thiers nothing wrong with my truck, othier than it needs a alignment ( my call )

As far as I'm concerned, the 9.00 charge is petty and I have sent a E-mail to the Service department at Tower Chrysler in Calgary, on the + side my truck is 100% after I piad fo an alignment done at a Midas dealer.

I would have been more than happy to have have this Dodge dealer do an alignment, but they felt it did not need it, even after a road test with me in the passenger seat..

Nine bucks is not going to break me, but it is the last time I will have my truck serviced at this dealer....and Tower is two blocks away from my house....

You gotta be kidding me? Isn't your alignment covered for a year under your warranty?

Did you ask the dealer if the $9.00 was worth losing all your future business?

There is a camera shop in Sacramento where the owner is now charging people for asking questions/advice etc. if they don't make a purchase within the store. He claims people are coming in and picking the brain of his employees then making their purchase online.

Personally I don't think you can put a price on foot traffic but you sure can put a price on LACK of foot traffic(return customers).

Seems odd - not sure i can offer you much insight, other than, i have taken my ram to the dealership for petty stuff - and they drive it /test it -no charge, especially since its under warranty.

9 bucks is not the issue, i see where your coming from. Stupid move on their part; if it wasnt under warranty i could understand.

yes, it's crazy. This Dodge dealer is not were I bought my Ram from. My girl friends home is less than three blocks away from the orginal dealer, so depending on where I'm bedding down for the night determins were I take my truck.

It's not hard to take a car or truck out of alignment, one bump hit just the right way can do it, so I'm not faulting Dodge, or my truck, Stuff hapens, but you would expect a Dodge service department to be more proactive.

I'm on holdays now, So I don't have the time to play with service departments..

Nice to see another Calgary Ram Owner here.

What dealer did you buy your truck from? I bought mine from Varsity Chrysler. I have no idea what their service department is like. I only bought the truck 3 months ago, and have only put a little over 10,000 K on it. So far my oil change services have been OK.

Good luck!

I hate to say it, but it's not uncommon anymore. I worked as a service writer for 3 years at a dealership, and if the customer did not purchase the vehicle from us, they did not get the treatment they deserved, and would be charged for things that we would not normally charge OUR customers. It was not my decision, it was the owners decision. It's kind of hard to go against the demand of the owner of the company in my example.

I bought my truck at Courtesy Chrysler in Calgary on a factery order, I'm sure Varsity and Courtesy are owned by the same person.

Now for the respone From Tower to my E-mail, if any one can advise me how to post thier email response, it will floor you. ( grammer-spelling)

Chrysler will not pay for the dealerships time if thiers not a warrenty issue to be adressed, and I should not have been charged, next time I take my truck in for service, the 9.00 will be credited back.

I can understand this, how ever, when I booked the truck in, and talked to the service rep, thiers no mention of a possible charge up front, if the dealer finds nothing wrong.

It's a shakey deal, period. I will never deal with Tower and I paid for my 10,000 Km service on my truck, they used my gas to take my truck for a cruse and charged me nine bucks..

The issue is now put to rest and what's done is done..

Was it actually marked as a charge for that. Sometime disposal fees are added to oil changes...unless you bought the maintenance plan. Seems like dealers are getting more shady every day.
