4.7L oil foam help??
Hey guys, I just change my oil on my 02 qc ram w the 4.7L in it, I pulled the oil fill cap off and it had a tannish color sludge/foam stuff on it I then pulled the little plastic tube out and it also had the same stuff on it. I watched the oil drain as I always do and it did not appear to have any coolant in it, but none the less could this be a head gasket issue or just an oil foaming issue?? Any help would be appreciated.
Relax champ, no need to worry, this is normal. I use Mobil 1 synthetic, and i encountered the same problem.
I contacted Mobil 1, as well as this forum about this issue. Everyone advised that it's condensation in the engine. basically, you're not letting the engine run long enough. Believe me, i was a little troubled, when i first saw it underneath the engine oil fill cap. But everyone said it's normal....At ease champ...all is well.

Man you made my day, I was worried bout it, I guess I should start taking the long way to work since I only live 3 miles from there. thanks again for the info. I can start to relax again, Jeremey.
I agree with the others that this isn't a real issue. You might want to check TSB's though, I recall for my old 2000 Dakota w/a 4.7L there was a TSB about the same thing. It was related to a baffle or something (again, check the TSB as my memory is obviously a little fuzzy). I took the truck to the dealer and showed 'em the TSB, they gave me the usual crap about how TSB's are just advisories, then fixed it and no more foam....
