Default 05 Ram stalling - Tranny filter replacement fixed it!

Uh hu... I thought that might get your attention. I couldn't believe it either, but it fixed the problem.

The truck would stall intermittently whenever I would come to a stop... never when just parked, always after coming to a stop. The RPM's would dip down below 500 almost always, and sometimes it's would just straight up die! No check engine lights, nuthin'. The dearler here in Plano found no codes in memory. Forunatly he took enough interest in my problem to keep looking. They finally duplicated the error while they captured a flash image of the memory.

Turns out it was a a problem caused by the transmittion cooler return filter, part number 04799662AB. It's defined in Service Bulletin 21-007-06. So they changed that filter, plus all the fluid, etc. And now it is perfect!

It's the 4.7 L engine, not the Hemi, sadly. I don't know if it's the same tranny on both. The trany code is 45RFE or 545RFE, and applies to 05 and 06 Rams. .

I'm new to Dodge, and even newer to this forum, but I thought you all may want to know about this.

Default RE: 05 Ram stalling - Tranny filter replacement fixed it!

YOU may have just made my day!!! I've posted on here before about my rpms dipping to (and sometimes under) 500
when I come to a stop. I brought it to the dealer, and they pretty much said "there's no codes, so everything's normal....bye".

Thank you. I'm going to check this out.
