Default Xm Radio and 2006 Ram

I have a 2006 Dodge Ram. The radio is the 6 disc, nav system, and it is currently running Sirius Radio. Does anyone know of a hook up for the XM Radio? I have heard there s nothng available, but I thought someone on here might have already crossed that hurdle and come up with a solution. Anyone? Anyone?

Yes I would like to keep the radio/cd/nav systemI already have.

Thanks for any help here.

If I was going to keep the stock radio I would install this unit.

XM Commander

That is the link to one of the best prices.

Why do I pick it? I uses the XMD1000. This box will let you move it to almost any aftermarket radio or even to a PC with a special cable. The XM Commander is nice. You can hide all of the hardware and just have the display in/on the dash and it includes a remote. It comes with a flush mount that if you want you can mount it "In" the dash.

I had a co-worker that mounted it in his headliner in a Dakota. It looks nice!! He made the cuts and used the flush mount, hid all of the wires/hardware and wired it in.

For the new Dodge radios you may need some antenna adaptors but those are easy to get.

Terk XM Direct P/N CHYXMD100 by Audiovox is designed for use on Satellite ready factory Chrysler/Dodge vehicles.

You may want to contact Audiovox and see if it will work with your application. I've got one installed in my '04 with the RBQ Radio.

XM huh? Must be a big Okrah Winfrey fan.

Just keep your Sirius unit. They will be buying XM as soon as they can get around the FCC license and spectrum issues. XM is dying on the vine content wise. The only thing left there is baseball and Oprah (all 30 minutes a week, woohoo!).

XM does not have the sports content that Sirius has so personally I would keep the Sirius which is better anyway.

I have both XM in my S4 and Sirius in my Ram. I like Sirius better. Sirius has a better "Hair Band" station. The Sat Radio in the Ram leaves alot to be desired.

I have XM in the Avenger and in my Lincoln LS and I have the free Sirius in the Ram. I have to say that Sirius is better for me. I like classic rock and Sirius plays better and more of this type of music. I also feel there is less breaks from the music on Sirius. XM is starting to play commercials more and more on the stations I like.

You can thank me later for telling you to wait!

XM stock sure got a boost today on the merger news. Looks like people have a little more faith in Mel getting value out of the company. Coverage should be perfect just about everywhere now. Sirius's overhead birds and XM's extensive ground based repeaters should just about service every square inch of the US.

I appreciate everybody's responses.

As far as where I am with this...

I have a 2006 Thunder Road that I love to death.
Ihave beenan XM subscriber since 2003 and I am nearing the end of my free year with Sirius.
After having both services and comparing the features that I enjoy from each, I am a far bigger fan of Xm than of Sirius. My main reason for getting satellite radio was to have consistent radio content wherever I went, no matter how far I traveled. I do not listen to Stern or Oprah and I am going to enjoy my football, I am going to watch it or DVR it rather than listen to it on the radio. Further, I think that Sirius could do a better job organizing their football offerings so that games could found easier and without having to pirate other channels' time to braodcast games. Lastly, I think that XM has a better selection of well-known music on easier-identifiable channels. Sirius does have a lot of variety, but I feel that it is more obscure than XM and that does not fit my taste.

With all of that said, I would like to have Xm in my truck in a seemless way without visible wires or modulators (I had both in my last car and it just felt...well...dirty.) I also do not have the scratch to get a new head unit, or at least the one that I want.
I have been aware for some time that Terk had the XM Direct option for many cars, just not CAN bus Chrysler vehicles. Apparently, Terk makes an adapter for Ford CAN bus, so I know that its possible. So, long story short...my post was to see if anybody out there in the wide world of RAM had been able to overcome this unfortunate situation.

After all, I live in Southern Maryland and the radio stations down here suck. I can't afford both services and I can't listen to our stations for an extended period of time without losing my mind...damn Terk.

Anyhow, this is my first "official post" so thanks for listening and thanks again for your responses.
