Default Emergency lights on a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Quadcab

Does anyone know about installing undercover lights on the truck?
I have heard that the strobe kits will melt the lenses on the headlights and that the wig-wag headlight system will not work.
Any infor would help me out.
The lights are needed for fire calls, coroner calls, crime scene photos, and emergency managment calls.

well im guessing that you are police/fire/EMT or something. you can get the lights that go on your sun visor with an elastic band. when you want to use them just flip the visor down and push the button and they come on. or you could go with some mounted behind the grille.

As long as you don't have automatic headlights, why wouldn't the wig-wag work? You could mount wig-wag's or strobes behind the grill. Not sure about the strobe thing. I've mounted strobes in plastic housing before without problems - specifically in the blinkers and backup lights of an Excursion and a Explorer. I also had strobes in the backup lights of my 97 F-250.

If you are an authorized agency employee I would think the agency would take care of your lighting. If not, I would be careful about installing emergency lighting without proper authority. If you are a volunteer, make sure you carry your authority with you all of the time and get some training before you start running signal 10. As a former Sheriff and a current Coroner I can tell you that regular law enforcement takes a dim view of "undercover lights"on an unauthorized vehicle. In my nearly six years as Coroner I have never had to run lighting to get to a scene and they have always been there when I got there.............Just for your 10-43

The lights are used while I am on scene...therefore they will be on for a while.
I am worried about the heat that the strobes may build up in the headlight assembly.

I usually try to position my vehicle between the fire trucks and the scene, however, the FD usually likes to take off ASAP.

Wig-Wag will work. This is exactly the same system that Chrysler uses at the Proving Grounds for vehicles that run high speed tests. I almost bought a set just for the hell of it, but never got around to it. Do you have a link of where you can buy them?
