Congrats on the new truck..............Not really sure how the MDS system works, but it's my understanding that it switches from 8 cyl to 4 cyl to same gas while on the highway.......not really sure when it kicks in though......one of the other guys will chime in soon enough, most of them have the MDS system in their truck..........

I have it in my 06 quad cab and i could never tell until i got my exhaust installed. It kicks on any time you are cruising and are holding a steady rpm....it does it at 45mph all the way up to 80 if you are cruising. It works with cruise control on or off. You can hear it when you get an exhaust installed.....it is not a bad sound but you can definitely hear it.

Hear what?? A drop in exhaust?

I can't hear nothing with my Magnaflow system...

Sometimes it seems like it kicks down into a double overdrive? Which has almost no exhaust sound???

i have a flowmaster 40 series with a turndown just behind the rear axle....it sounds like you say an extra overdrive...i may have a little more drone in the cab in you bc of my turndown under the truck. It is just a different sounding tone.

Hmmm, ok... my exhaust is stock length. He just cut a 3" pipe to length and used a bender to copy the stock tail pipe, less the resonators.

It's real mellow when it's under 2000, but I think that's what all Magnaflows are like? It has a nice growl when you step on it... but the stock length pipe cuts it back I'm sure?

Thought about dumping it in front of the rear tire, but I do a lot of highway and didn't want an annoying done... just some extra power and a nice throaty sound.

My xpipe exhaust is dumped at the rear end and the one i had before that was stock length and i could still hear it. It's a deepening tone. I HATE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It makes the truck sound like somethings wrong, but its just the mds...

That's ok.. it freaks people out in the city when I romp on it to take off or pass since it was just purring when I was cruising beside them.

Much nicer in my opinion. Why would you want a low BRAP the whole time anyway!?
