RE: front drive shaft grease and disenguagement
There is a grease zerk there. You will need a needle to access it. You will also need to lift the front wheels to rotate the drive line. It is located on the transfer case side of the joint. Make sure you bring a flashlight-----you will definitely need it. Of all the maint I perform on my truck, greasing that zirk is a major PAIN-IN-THE-***!!!!!
Unfortunately, D/M decided to go with the full time run of the front drive train---when you lock in and unlock, you are only disengaging the drive train at the transfer case. The front axles do not unlock.
The fitting kinda sits at an angle in the cross, and looks like a bright spot with a dark dot in it. I know this sounds kinda lame---but only way better to describe it is with a picture. One of the guys did do this a long time ago here on the forum. If I can find it I will re-post for you, but I suggest doing a search too----Good Luck!!!
