Hey Nos4fuel, I see you have a K&N drop in air filter......why did you choose that over a CAI? And Did you notice a difference with the Drop in filter?

Ok so heard from the dealer today, they still can't tell exactly what happend. Yes I did buy the extended warranty (the truck had 48,000 on it when bought) which cost me 5,500.00 for the four star warranty with $50.00 deductable from GE Heritage Mechanical Brakdown Corp / GE Capital Administrative Services, Inc.The warranty covers everthing from thermostat to gaskets. When I spoke to the service manager he was nice enough but kind of hinted around that the warranty people would try to get out of paying for it anyway they can. I looked through my contract I have all document maintence records and there is no clause for arbitration. So if I have even the slightest feeling like the warranty co. is going to shaft me I'll give my lawyer a call. I own a few businessesso I have a lawyer on retainer anyway, I'll just make sure it costs them as much in court/lawyer fees as does the new engine. The oil I was running was Cast syth 5-30 with a fram filter. Changed oil every 3,000 miles all other services where done per owners manual.

Glad to hear things are going to work out for you, especially with the warranty...

Did he give you any indication, as to the reason for the engine going up? What did they find inside the engine?
Do you have any ideas? Do you think it was the Oil Filter/Oil? What?

So heres the skinny on whats happened so far. The dealer finally narrowed it down to a bad thermostat and temp sensor, the warranty co sent out their adjuster to verify and he stated that " the thermostat and temp sensor are bad and both are covered under warranty". The dealer called to authorize repairs and was told they where denying repairs due to the fact that I should haveheard the thermostat fail. The dealer told them that there was no way that I could have know due to that fact A. the temp sensor was bad and B. the thermostat doesn't make a noise when it breaks ( retards ). So I called my lawyer because those parts are cover specifically under the warranty to include any subsequent damage. If your thinking about getting a extended warranty don't get itfrom these guys. I will make this extremely costly for these people, as a business owner I find this morally reprehensible, I could never treat my clients like this. They messed with the wrong bull.[sm=badbadbad.gif]
