Default Powertrain Warranty?

Hello all, I'm a new member to the forum and a first time Dodge owner. I just purchased a 2005 1500 Quad Cab with the Hemi that just turned over 30k miles. My question is does the 7/70k mile powertrain still apply since I'm not the original owner? My buddy who works at the GMC dealership said I messed up not getting the extended warranty. I only drive about 5-7k a year so I figured unless the motor or tranny goes out, it wouldn't be worth the extra 2 grand for the extended warranty. If the original warranty still applies, it should still be covered until I get it paid off. Any help would be appreciated.

Ifthe truck was sold new with the 7/70, and you are not the original owner, there may be a transfer fee. I would check with a Dodge dealer to see. With the 7/70, if a drivetrain failure occurs that is covered, your only obligation is to pay the deductible, which I believe is $100. An extended warranty is going to be very expensive, so I'd check on the 7/70 first.

I don't know if it depends on the dealership or what, but I bought mine with 33k and the warranty transferred with no extra cost. Although I did drop an extra grand on extending the bumper-bumper warranty t o 7y/70k

the 3yr/36k mile warranty is automatically transferred. the 7yr/70k mile warranty costs $150 to transfer. and i think that its worth the extra money to do it, but if it doesnt already have the 7/70 warranty im not sure if you can purchase it on a used vehicle that you buy. i think you can get it only on new vehicles.
