Default Gibson Exhaust for the Hemi

I have a 2004 quad cab hemi looking to make it sound more like a hemi on acceleration but still cruise quiet (sound impossible?) I was looking at a borla, like the daytonas, but someone mentioned the gibson system. I wanted to get some feedback from people who have used this product. I am also looking for a set of 06-07 5 spoke factory wheels, chrome or aluminum. Thanks, Chris

I tried the Gibson single exhaust system on my 05 Hemi. I picked the single since it showed the greatest dyno improvements on their website. After 6 months, I put the stock exhaust back on. I couldn't take the resonance at 1800-2300 rpm (highway cruising speed)--couldn't carry on a conversation at highway speed. I even tried an improved version from Gibson that they claimed would be quieter--it wasn't. I noticed no difference in MPG between stock and the Gibson.

I first removed the stock tailpipe from my '04, with the resonator, and replaced it with the stock tailpipe from an '03.

Next, I had a Magnaflow muffler installed, after removing the stock muffler. It sounded good, but man the resonance in the cab drove me bonkers.

Finally, I ended up with a DynoMax muffler. That thing sounds great without any resonance in the cab.

All I'm saying is do as you are doing right now, ask questions. Do your research. Exhaust systems are not cheap, and there's nothing worse than spending a lot of money with a set anticipation, only to discover, once the wallet is drained, that it ain't what you expected.

I put on a Gibson Dual exhaust a couple of months ago. I love the sound! It makes it sound like it should-beefy! I did notice a small increase in gas mileage too-added bonus there. I am very pleased with the whole system. I had been considering the Flowmaster, but the shop I took it to said this would give it the sound I was really looking for-they were right.

After I got done with the magnifying glass hehe....did you have any resonance or droning in the cab at highway speed? Say the 2000-3000 rpm range? Or 65-80 mph? I have been looking at the Gibson extreme and wondering if I'll regret it.

Upped the font size. I really don't notice any difference-only if I get on it will I hear it.I am partial to the louder sound from a exhaust-grew up with muscle cars so it doesn't bother me at all. It's maybe a tad louder, but I have 3 kids in the truck at any given time and even they aren't bothered by the sound of it.

Loud engines don't bother me...they bother my other half, who is a frequent passenger. What I do want to avoid though is that loud dull drone of the resonance (not the sweet sound of 8 cylinders pumping). I had a car that suffered from it, it was real bad. Which Gibson kit did you use?

Hey Silverblue1989 - From what i've read and just lived through- resonance in the cab is a problem on the Flowmaster 50(verified)and some Gibsons exhaust systems- it really depends on your "taste" in loudness - if you opt to change the muffler - try the muffler of your choice with the stock rear resonator on...just an opinion from a guy who just wasted $400 bucks to end up putting the stock muffler back on - Check out the SRT-10 exhaust as well - looks pretty cool and that it'll bolt right in.....
