Default plastic trim on bumber

can the top trim on the front bumper that is a black be painted and clearcoated and will it look like it was painted?

Sure it ccan be painted and clearcoated, Just use flexable primer. Im in the process of painting the plastic on the front and rear bumpers. And the wiper valance.

many also sand it down for a smoother surface as well!

Just out of curiosity. Are you talking about the piece where the tow hooks go? And if so, can anyone advise if this piece he's mentioning can be removed? And if so, once removed can the tow hooks be easily installed after removed?
