Question for people in the northern/colder states
Have any of you guys/gals in the northern states or any of the colder states experienced any problems shifting into gear in the morning? I was up in northern arizona overnew years and everytime I went toeither shift my truck into drive or into park it seemed unusually stiff to put it into gear. I'm assuming it was the colder weather becausethe day after we got backhome down in the valley it was shifting just fine. I'm just curious if this is a common problem in freezing/snow weather.

Colder weather in Arizona!?
It was -30c here (-22f for you) for awhile in December. I had no problems.
With 5w20 in the Hemi she starts fast and heats up quick. Shifts smooth. When it's cold it seems to override in 1st, or maybe the fan stays on or something?! It's a lot louder anyway. After a few minutes she's fine.
How old is your oil? Mind you, that might affect shifting between gears, but you said just putting it into drive or park? That's odd...

Yes it actually snowed in Arizona, the time we were up there it was between 7-16f over nightand snowing......I just changed the oil last month and have out about 1200k on it since then. Total mileage is just under 23k. But yeah it struck me as kind of odd that it was so stiff to get in gear. I was almost thinking that the trany had somehow locked up but once I got it in gearI had no problems at all driving it down the highway from place to place up there and it felt normal when I got on it. It did this every morning we were up there and as I said earlier when we got back down into the valley it went into gear like normal.

Here in Northern Illinois it occursevery morning, rpms @ 1100(idle) for a couple of minutes in the driveway and it takes about a block or two for it to start shifting correctly. After that everything is fine. I read somewhere in an earlier post that it's the transfer case filling up. I just set for a minute or so and away I go. Should mention my normal idle is around 600rpm.

i'm in montana. when it is chilly the transmision will shift slower. it will seem to stay in a lower gear for a little longer. things get smooth as soon as the vehicle warms up. i have a mopar radiator cover that is awesome. it cover all the radiators from the inside. no chance of rubbing off paint!
