The key does have a chip in it and if you try to start it without that key it will lock up the computer and it will have to be towed to the dealer. That is why I made the other post asking where to buy the extra keys. They are 200 if you get if from the dealer. If you have both original keys then you can purchase a dodge key from someone else and get it cut and program it yourself.
I asked the cop, "If I catc someone in my truck, Do I have the right to beat the crap out of them"? Cop Replied, "You will go to jail for assualt". What kind of injust crap is that. I get violated on my property and can not defend it? Does any one know if the 2006 ram 1500 has the chip in the key preventing thievery?
In texas you can shoot them and i doubt that you will get in any trouble . It is still illigal to carry wire cutters in your truck because of all of the cattle thefts back in the day. Lol. I would love for someone to right me a ticket for that one, I would fight that one till the end
wrong. in texas the law changed so that now you have to be in fear of your life to use deadly force. but basically anytime somebody breaks into your house you can claim fear for your life, and if you catch them in your truck and point a gun at them to detain them its fine but if they start advancing towards you then you can claim fear for your life and shoot.

That is what i was talking about. If you happen to kill them then it is your word against a theive. You shot him because your life was at risk, as well as the life of your truck

Just do what I do.....

Keep one of your pistols in the truck (unloaded and no bullets of course) and the others in the house.

That way when they break into your truck and you catch the sorry SOB, you can honestly say that they had a gun.

Move here to Fl. we passed the "castle law" last year which basically says that anywhere on your property, in your house, even in your vehicle, you have the right to defend yourself and your property, with deadly force if necessary. Even if you are walking on the street and someone threatens you, attacks you, or makes you fear for your life, you can shoot. Basically they removed the requirement that you have to try to flee first.

I'd rather be tried by twelve than carried by six.

thank God i live in texas. I have my 12 gauge in my apartment and if someone starts my truck...the cut outs open and truck is parked 15 feet away from my bedroom window.... ill galdly take out the shield for the SOB. My neighbor had her 03 1500 QC stolen a month or two ago. The dumb F*ck used it for some gang shootings that killed several people in irving tx. I figure if thats the kinda of people that are stealing trucks and cars...shooting them will be saving lives in the end. a lil stretched yes but when you deal with it first hand it will make you sick to your stomach to think some F*cker is enjoying something you worked hard to earn.

protect you and your family first then your investments

It's not just the Rams, Super Duty's are stolen like crazy. They are so easy to steal it's not even funny. Screwdriver and a hammer and you're gone. No, I'm not a thief, I just owned a SD and saw a bunch of guys get them stolen.

If you are anywhere in the SW, trucks are game for theft. They wind up getting found in friggin Mexico or bashed up in the desert from smuggling the illegals.

Thats what insurance is for. Killing someone for stealing or attempting to steal your truck is murder, whether its first or second degree is for the DA to decide, either way you're gonna spend a lot of time in jail or a LOT of money trying to stay out.

I'm not saying you aren't justified in your feelings and I'd probably feel the same way but after nearly going to jail for spraying a neighbor with the hose....the last thing I'm going to do is shoot someone unless they are inside my home.

I'll tell you what ANYONE who gets shot AT will run like hell and will never return......you don't have to hit or kill someone to get your point across. A few shots in the air will absolutely scare off anyone because they have no clue if you are shooting at them or not.

My weapon of choice is a baseball bat!

"why you carrying a baseball bat sir"??

"I was just at the batting cageofficer" )

"Why you carrying a Springfied XD45 and 3 magazines of HydroShocks with you sir?"

"Because the Greater Columbus, GA and Phenix City, AL area have 27 known gangs operating in and around itand I have a concealed carry permit!"
