245s to 265s change
fist thing is what kind of vehicle then once you change your tires and yes you can go up in size if wheel well have clearance, and depending on the vehicle your local dealer can reprogram the controller if -i think 02 and up in years- to set the new tire size in controller and speedo will be correct as far a mileage it should not be very noticable maybe 2 or 3 miles to the gallon if that
I went up to stock 20 with stock tire size. Your horrible MPG will get worst, I dont bother with reprogramming. There are sites that tell you how much off you are with a percentage of the difference in sizes. So if my speedo says 65, I am about 70-72 mph.
I was getting 17 mpg with the 245, now 15.5mpg with the 20's.

I worked at our local CO-OP tire shop for 2 1/2 years before moving to my current job. I will say from what customers have told me in the past that went from P235/75R15 tires up to 31X10.50X15's ( kinda close aproximation of what you arewanting. A 265/75/16 tire is31"od X 10" tread width) In those past cases, mostly on V-8 chevys & fords, they would loose from 3/4 to 1 1/2 mpg. I can imagine a V-6 truck would be more dramatic, since the power is not there at lower RPM's. HOWEVER, If you have a rear axle ratio of about 3.40 or so, and go to a 3.95 or 4.10 axle ratio, that should more than make up for the difference. The difference in overall weight is not that great. Where most people loose power & fuel economy is because they do not change the axle ratio to compensate for the difference! Pick up ANY 4x4 / off-road truck magazine & read almost ANY article aboutinstalling larger tires on your rig. They willallways recomend changing the ring & pinion gears.
