Trans slippage
I've noticed my trans sems to be slipping a little bit. Theres no specific time that it happens. It's random. Would having the trans back flushed and have new fluid fix this problem. Is there any truth to that it sometimes will make it worse??? What about the bands in the trany. Do they need adjustment?? I have a 2002 1500 5.9 with approx.80k miles. Can anyone spread any light on this for me?Thanks!!!
I haven't changed it at all. I've heard rumors that it's sometimes a bad thing to do. It's not real bad but I'd like to get it early if it's going bad. I've heard that there are band inside the tranny that need adjusting as well. Any idea on that?
I ALSO HAVE A 2002 RAM WITH THE 5.9. I NOTICED MY TRANNY SLIPPING AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE CHECKED OUT AND THE TORQUE CONVERTER HAD GONE BAD DUE TO A FAULTY SENSOR AND IT ALSO DESTROYED THE LOW & REVERSE BAND AND SLIPPED THE FIRST AND SECOND GEAR CLUTCH PACKS INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION. IF I WERE YOU I WOULD HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. THE GOOD THING IS THAT I AM A MECHANIC AT THE DODGE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT I SO I GOT PAID TO REPAIR MY OWN TRUCK!!!!
Now that's what I call burning the candel at both ends!!!! Thanks guys, I'll have to take it to the dealer and have it checked out. I was hoping not to have to do that cause they do rip you off. Sorry atlaticblueram. Thanks for the info
