Hemi, if all it took to fix the leak was two hose clamps, why does it cost $80 at the stealership? I mean dealership.

Can anyone explain, why Dodge is having so many problems with their Power Steering? And does anyone know if they are doing anything to correct the problem? Can anyone advise if any of the others like, GM or Chevy have these same problems? (Notice I didn't mention Ford-Becuase i know they have a whole bunch of problems)
Because it appears that many people on here, have encountered problems with the Power Steering.

Let me ask this then. What can WE, the truck owners do to correct the problem? We know there hasn't been a recall on the power steering. Is it possible to contact someone, to have one done?
Because obviously, it's not something anyone of us is doing, because it appears that their are many people here, who have experienced problems with the power steering.

I wouldn't have a clue as to how TSB's are developed, but I would imagine it's from dealerships who have common problems and see the same things over and over. I'm sure it has to be a staggering amount before it becomes a TSB. hopefully someone else will chime in but I think most people are tired of reading about the ever so popular power steering leak thread. I did a search and there seems to be alot of threads about this. No pics or anything, which hopefully I'll cure that and maybe I can get it in the DIY thread. I'd be famous for sure. lol

Yeah, i feel your pain. There has been alot of threads posted on here, on the topic of " Power steering Problems".
But i think the reason people continue to post is, they're hoping to find a fix, once and for all.
Because it appears that some of us, have taken our vehicles to the dealership, more than once to correct this problem.
I guess by posting here, we exchange ideas and, by doing so we can elliminate, what we think is the problem, and actually get to the root of the problem, and have it fixed.
Actually, the power steering is the only problem i have with my vehicle. So, once that's fixed, i can move on to more enjoyable topics.

about all you can do is try and fix it yourself or hope that enough people go to the dealerships and complain about it to get a TSB released, or it becomes a saftey hazard...but that aint likely to happen any time soon....so until then, just do what ya can to fix it yourself, replace the clamps fill 'er up with fluid and drive it...if the pump or the rack needs to be replaced, then hopefully theres enough people that are going to the dealerships about it and DCX will get a recall on it, sorry for your pain but thats about how it's gonna go.......

yah i know how ya feel about dealerships, some of em are just out to get your money and very very very few actually care about the customer and getting it fixed right...luckily we have such a dealership in town, they actually care more about getting it fixed then making money, thats a miricle right there

Ok mine is leaking quite a bit too, and the pump whines a little. I don't see any "clamps" that can be replaced. I have tightend the fittings on the rack (looks to be where it is coming from). Good thing this truck only has to last me another year or so.

If I could fix the clamps, it would've been done already. Unfortunately, not everyone stays in residences that allow working on their vehicles, whether you rent or own. I definitely can't fix the hose clamps (tighten or replace) at my residence...if I'm desperate, maybe at work when the lot is empty. Worst case, I go to Fort Belvior and rent a bay, but if I have to do that, I'm going to the dealer, since that's the path of least resistance...yeah, I'm under warranty. The only reason I've waited this long is that last week's ice has me wanting my truck for another week or so.

The best thing to do from the truck owner perspective is to go to the dealer and get it fixed, whether or not you're under warranty, as that's how the dealership gauges how widespread the issue is. If people are fixing it themselves or are going to other places to get the fix, how is DC to know there's widespread issue?
