no it is not covered by powertrain. But your bumper to bumper should be 60k. The ended up replacing the pump, and the whole rack and pinion and hoses because the rack and pinion was faulty and putting metal shavings into the fluid which pooched the pump

Damn! I've been reading this thread just to keep up with since it started. No P/S problems since I've had the truck. Well lo' and behold, my power steering is making a groaning noise and leaking! WTF!? Guess I can just join the club now. I live in Texas so I don't think it's related to the cold weather although we've been in the 30s for awhile now. This sucks.

Okay I need help here...
I have an 04 Ram 2500 4 dr 4x4 with a 4 inch lift on 37" tires.
I went to pull a buddy out that got stuck in his F150 this weekend. After I got him out, I couldn't resist spinning around in the mud a little...
As soon as I pulled it back out into the street, I have no power steering. I get the loud moan, and can't turn the wheel, accept under acceleration. I checked the fluid, and it's still full... Does this mean it's not the pump?
What else could it be???
