Dumped?
So when I go to the exhaust shop I'm going tell them: "I want the Flowmaster 40 Series muffler installed, and dumped 3 inches after the muffler with a 45 degree pipe facing the ground." About how much should I expect to be charged? I just need a ballpark so I don't go in there and get ripped off..... Thanks a lot for your help!
I paid $175.00 for a 40 series (1 in and 2 out) that was dumped about 12" past the muffler - just before the rear axle where you can see them between the rear wheel and the fender well. I wouldn't call the sound extremely loud, but it does sound like a big block. The best way I can describe it is that when you punch it, it sounds like its breathing. My favorite is when I start it up - it has a very distinctive growl.

I think you may want to go 12"-18" past the muffler, get it closer to the rear diff. You will get a lot of pops otherwise, like when you go from WOT to no gas, it will burble and pop as it slows down. 18" should prevent a lot of this.
That's a really good point...I never thought of that, thanks......But now that I think of it, my rc truck has the exhaust exiting in front of the tires and the tires are discolored...
I had mine dumped after the axle. Still get the wave bounce off the pavement but doesn't flood the cab with drone. The pipes split on each side of the spare and are tucked up flush withthe spare and are welded to the frame. Looks great from underneath but is hidden at eye level. Sounds great!
