Superchips Woes
Well, so far I haven't had any luck at all with my Superchips 3815 programmer. And repeated calls/e-mails to Superchips has gotten me zippo.
The programmer works just fine, and seems to have more power and firmer shifts, but makes my truck have a tip-in stumble. What I mean is that when you first press the accelerator to start moving after being stopped, the engine will stumble for a 1/4 second before smoothly accelerating. And I don't mean full-throttle, either, although it does it there once in a while, too. Just part-throttle everyday driving.
Anyone run into this?
The truck is a 2006 Dodge Power Wagon, completely stock except for the programmer. Only has 1200 miles on it - I just got it a month ago!
I guess if I can't get this solved, I'll be returning the programmer. I want to get it back before that 30 day window closes.

Hmmm. I just picked up my '06 this week. I'm not sure if it's the same thing, but I've noticed something akin to the "stumble" that you've talked about, but I've boiled it down to the 1st gear gear-ratio. The truck doesn't accelerate cleanly until 2nd gear, which by the way with no load/trailer, it shifts into VERY quickly off the start. I only experience this with low throttle, if you give it to it, you don't notice it all (at least in my case).
My superchips is going in tomorrow morning, so I was very interested in your post.
I will report my findings after it goes in tomorrow. Mine is an '06 1500 QC Hemi 4x4. Which reminds me I should just put that in my signature...

Keep in mind that starting with 06 (I think I read this right) they have digital throttle, and I believe they are tuned from the factory to have a lot of play in the 1st quarter throttle or so based on complaints of wheel spinning and things prior to that. I'm sorry I don't have a direct reference for that, so don't quote me on it, but I'm pretty certain that is what I read someplace.
My 06 has tons of power out of first gear, I often end up with wheel spin or fishtailing. Also keep in mind though that I reset my pcm after setting the 91 tune on 93 octane. I drove it like I stole it after the reset, and after a couple months my truck adapted to the driving style. Using tow/haul mode also helps with the shifting, as it tends to hold the gears for a little while longer. I have noticed though that in normal city driving, if I tap the gas to take off from a stop sign sometimes the jerk causes me to lift my foot off the pedal a small amount, resulting in a small jerk before the smooth acceleration.

The problem I'm having isn't a lack of throttle response, it's an actual 'stumble', as in you can feel the engine misfire a few times, before it goes. But when it goes, it goes! The bad thing is that it only does this with the superchips programming; stock is fine.
kpj5br, the Hemi was *always* fly-by-wire. What they did in '06 was smooth out the throttle curve to make the truck a bit more controlable at very low throttle openings, which is great for off-roading or trying to make delicate manuvers like hooking up to a trailer or backing into a tight spot.
