Default Trade in 04 F150 for 07 Ram?

I currently have an 04 F150 FX4(fabtech lift, grilles, fender flares, bull guard, moto metal wheels, nitto terra grappler tires) with 40000 miles on it. The dealership offered me 21000 for it and right now they're running a special for the 07 Ram 1500 4x4 5.7 Hemi Crew Cab Big Horn Edition for 23995. I like the F150 better because of the bigger back seat, shifter location, power rear sliding window, gauge detail, and a few others but with the amount I owe on the loan 16200 I would actually have extra cash and a brand new truck which I don't like quite as much but it would be new with 0 miles on it. I own a spring shop near Kansas City so it would get lifted immediately with tires, wheels and etc so I'm not real sure what to do. What do you guys think and if any of you currently owned a F150 and made the switch what your opinion is between the 2 trucks. I don't like the chevy at all so it's between keeping mine or going with the new Ram. If you have an opinion between the Ram and F150 I'd like to hear it and be honest and don't just say Dodge is better because YOU own one.

I switced from an F150 when it came time to buy. I'll say this, it was a close call until I drove them both, hands down theDodge won, my QC drives like aVolvo while the "New F150" we drove was like driving a Cavalier. YesI know there are some niceities ( power rear window, locking tailgate...etc.) that ford has that you won't seeon your Dodge, but I'll tell you as far as ride it don't get much better than this! I think you'll like it.

I agree the 06 ford f-150 we have is not anywhere near as nice as the dodge. Plus the ford never seems to meet the size as the dodge. Especailly ridin on 20's, lol. The ford does have a bigger back seat, but the front room is definitely compromised. Plus The ford is well a ford.. I'd say chevy or dodge.

If you have never had an issue with your Ford F-150, I would stay with the Ford. You have put a lot of $$$$ into it and llike most domostic truck owners, you have taken a mega hit with depreacaeation with all the employee pricing gimacks.

I made the jump from from Ford to Dodge, My last 04 F-150 was junk, real axel seals toasted at 30,000 Km, Cam phaser and lots of timming chainn issues with the 5.4 3V, batt and altenator issues as well.

The Dodge Ram is bigger were it counts, front passenger Room, frontDoors on the Rams are bigger, the Hemi is quicker, better on flue, has more room in the enige bay to work on than the 5.43v.

Dodge may cost a little more with mainatance and Dodge could improve thier paint quality/body assembly in my books, but as For being past loyal To Ford, and Now a Pro Dodge man, I have never questioned my move to simpler, more solidly builttruck.

Even thow your your not + on GM, you basicly have to drive all the new brands to get a fit for what you like, and I hate Ford, never ever again will I buy a Ford, So I'm baised based upon my prior Ford horror tours of duty........But if aint broke, don't fix it apllies to all trucks no matter who built them...

They are both great trucks. Everyone has there own biased opinion so do what YOU think you should. If you like the ram then go for it, if you are happier with your ford then stick with it and make it even more bad ***. There are mods for boththat can make them run with the best, butagain it is personal preference. What ever floats your boat is the truck you should choose.

I would easily chose a 1500 Ram over a F150 anyday BUT, you really need to do some research on the vibration problems Dodge is having and the fact that DC nor the dealerships will fix the problem. If you can live with this,go for it if you can swing the new payment.

I went from a 98 F-150 with the 5.8L V8. Although it had a lot of power, it didn't have the size, nor the handling that the Dodge did. I now have my 03 that I bought new, and I have also done a lift, Moto Metal wheels, 4.56 gears, and Toyo Open Country Tires. The truck STILL handles better than my F-150 did, and is very simple. I have put nearly 70k on my 4.7L Ram in the past few years, and it has never once been to the dealer except for the first couple check-ups when it was new. I tow my 21ft. boat, and my 28ft prowler (camping trailor) without any problems. So opting for the Hemi will definately give you more than enough power as long as it's properly equipped.

On the other hand, your truck only has 40k on it, which is just getting broken in (depending on YOUR driving habits) .. So if you have not had any problems with it, why get a new truck? Another question is, why are you thinking about switching? If you are more happy with the equipment in the Ford, and have had no real problems, what is forcing you to make the switch? It's really your decision.

Default RE: Trade in 04 F150 for 07 Ram?

This is my first post, I too currently own a 2004 F-150 and am thinking of trading it in on a Dodge 1500.
Thought I would read the forums here about some of the issues people have had with the Dodge as well. I have always owned Ford's but after this truck, I am seriously looking. Since Jan. of 04, the following has been replaced (under warranty) Disc brake rotors, (warped)rebuilt rear end (shuttering), throttle body (not idling correctly) outside temp sensor and rear tail light lens (leaking). NOW, I have a noise coming from the front end when rolling up to a stop, its like a clunk, clunk, clunk and it is not the tires. So i take it in to Ford tomorrow (1/30/07). Of course im out of warranty. If they find something extremely wrong and it costs 800-1000.00 Im telling em not to fix it and off to the Dodge dealer i go. The only thing that kills me is i am only 2 years away from paying it off.
