Default down 2 litres of oil

I haven't checked my oil for a while, and when I did so today I discovered I was down 2 litres. Is it normal to use a litre of oil in 3000 kms or so? Will it have hurt anything letting it get two litres down?

2 Liters?????
What in the world? I would be much more concerned as to where the oil is going! How often do you change your oil? Me, every 3500 mi with mobil 1. Never uses a drop. Last time I let the dealer change my oil (free with my purchase agreement), the filter was less than hand tight. I just gave it a spin and off it came. Lucky I guess to check it. As long as it has not been running that way for an extended period of time, there should be no damage, however instead of adding oil,I would change it immediately.

Yes, I am going to change it right away. I change my oil usually every 5000 kms (3000 miles), and I too have never used a drop up until now. I am a bit behind on changing it (less than 1000 miles) and I was using synthetic. Anyway, I have seen no leaks at all, so I don't know what to think at this point.

With the oil quantity of the hemi being 7 quarts, being 2 litres down the engine still has plenty of oil. Do you do the changes yourself? I have known some run-of-the-mill places to actually short you a quart or 2but still charge for it. Also have known those who just don't know how much oil to put into it. Standard oil change I guess in most vehicles is around 5 quarts. If that was done with yours, there is your 2 litres right there. Just sounds really unusual. Especially if you don't see any evidence of loosing oil in any way.

Actually I changed the oil last so I know it was full. In talking with the dealer they said that sometimes in cold weather the PCV sticks and oil blows out, and they have seen this cause a loss of up to two litres. Still doesn't make sense to me though because I don't see a mess of oil anywhere under the hood.

i just changed my 03 last week and ran across the same problem! mine was more like a quart and a half. It has beenaround forty for the past few months (average or so) here in N. texas. i dont get any smoke or anything and cant find any oil in the engine bay. My first oil change i noticed that 7 quarts put me right at the safe line on the dip stick and this past one i was below that line before the change and afterwards i was half way between safe and full errr whatever the top line means
