Had a problem this morning, what do you think
It was about 8 degrees out this morning, not sure what role this played, but shortly after starting the truck (05 QC) to let it warm up, it started to sputter, the RPMs were rev'ing a little and the truck acted like it was gonna die. Also the red lighting bolt in the bottom right hand corner was lit, and possibly flashing.
What does that red lighting bolt mean, i assumed electrical?
I let it do this for about a minute, then shut off the truck and my display on my radio and the backlight to my odm area stayed lit, i could see orange horizontal lines backlighting the odm. I started the truck and all this went away; let it warm up a couple minutes more and i was gone - no big deal.
Just wondering what to make of this and to chalk it up to the cold weather.
On a side note of paranoyia, i took my truck to the dealership to get the oil changed. When i came to pick it up, he said the ABS light was on and the driver side window wouldnt roll up - I was like wtf, when i brought it in that was not an issue.
But shortly after they pulled my truck around and no big deal, the window apparently had a piece of ice in the control (snowing out) and the abs light was off (not sure what caused this)
Let me know what you think. Im guessing no big deal, but it was awkward this morning when the truck was acting like it was gonna die.
TIA<

The lightning bolt signifies the electronic throttle control system, it probubly had some moisture condense in it after you turned the truck off the night before, ice formed, causing the throttle body to gap or blocked it from opening. When the truck warmedthe ice melted allowingthe TB to work properly.
thats my theory and I'm sticking to it![sm=confused06.gif]

The light that came on is the electronic throttle light. I'm guessing thatpossibly the throttle body had froze overnight and the pcm was unable to control idle speed. The electric throttle is suppose to snap when the key is turned on to break any ice, but it is possible it took two key cycles to free up the throttle. If you continue to have problems you might take it to the dealer and see if it has set any codes.
I'm assuming this has a 5.7 engine and has electronic throttle.

Just so you know I always see those orange horizontal lines when I turn off my truck too, I can't remember for sure but I think they turn off completely when you open the door maybe? I have an '05 as well
there is a TSB out about cold weather performance with the electronic throttle control, but i dont remember the exact details. i'd have to wait untill tuesday before i could get the TSB, might try calling the dealer and tell them to get on dealer connect and look for the TSB relating to electronic throttle control...which will be under the vehicle performance tab

I had the same exact problem this morning! 5.7 1500 RAM. It was -13below zero here this morning. I went out to start it and had the same exact experience but it did not go away. The lightening bolt was flashing steady and it would not go away after running rough for 10 minutes.
Called the dealership and the said it has been a problem. Long story short...I drove it to the dealership and it wouldn't go over 20 mph. Service Tech says that it is a design issue with the throttle body and it has been redesigned to operate better in cold weather so this doesn't happen. Luckily for me it is still under warranty and I am having the "new design" installed at no cost. Service tech said that others, whom were out of warraanty, have opted not to have it changed and have never had it happen again.
I should note that once it warmed up inside the dealersip the light did go off and it was running fine, so they said. They thought I could take it home bring it back on tuesday for the replacement. I opted not to because I work 40 miles from home and do not want to risk a stall in this sort of cold.
Also, the Service Tech checked the operation of my drivers side window. I don't know how that fits into all this?????

hmm good to know - odd how stuff happens to fellow members roughly at the same time
I do have a cold air intake and i replaced the hemi hat with a different tube. If i notify the dealer, i may want to switch it back; wouldnt you agree; hate for them to argue about what caused this.
thx again
