this is so weird its making me nervous
Matt,
My guess is that you may have a solenoid sticking. You might try a trans flush, but before you do anything mechanical to it, you may want to se if there are any TSB's or recalls related to your tranny.
I remember reading here about other guys with similar probs that turned out to be either the solenoids or the control module for the trans. Yours sounds more like a sticking solenoid though as it hasn't thrown any codes
This is just my best guess at this point
Matt, you may want to put your truck info in your sig, as I can only guess at what engine you have

thanks gone fishin, that is very helpful to me it gives me a place to start looking i did write in the oringnal thread it is a hemi with the 5 speed auto ,but i know it was kinda long if you didnt read, its ok.
Here's an idea that no one bothered to mention yet.... ever change the fluid? It has a 30k mileage interval. I have had this happen only twice, and all I did to correct it was throw into neutral, then back in Drive. So far so good. And to the guy that mentioned the trans. temp.... after I installed my temp sensor and PML pan, the trans temp never gets over 160 even in the worst rush hour traffic. At normal highway speed (even in the summer) the guage never moves off of 100 degrees. Just my $.02
I had the same thing happening to my truck. I spent over 2,000 bucks trying to get that thing fixed. They reprogramed the computer I dont know how many times and every time it would jump out of O/D and not work right after that, then I would trun off the truck and it would work fine for about 150-200 miles then do it again. The dealer I got my truck from was no help at all so I took it to another dealership and they tried there best to make it good. They contacted Dodge and even had a specialest come down from headquarters and they didnt know what was going on. They did some research and found out this was happening a lot. My truck had right at 80,000 on it but it was a 2003 and that is the only year it happens on because it was the first year for the HEMI in the 1500. Dodge bought back my truck and gave me TOP dollar for it sold me a truck for invoice and gave me all rebates (I got really lucky). They took my truck back and tore it down to figure what was going on. There was an issue with the 03 T/B that they found out after all of this, so you need to get it to the dealership QUICK!!! If the issue keeps going it can really mess your truck up and maybe even damage your motor.
