Default Power steering pump

Today I noticed when I was changing my oil, that where the power steering is ( I think it is the pump) That there was some fluid where the lines come into it. My truck had 34500 mi. Is this a common problem or what. I also noticed some fluid on my tailgate once before, but didn't think anything of it because I had just changed the oil. Thought it may be residual, but it happened again. Any help would be appriciated.

I'd clean off all the fluid to get a better idea of where it might possibly be leaking from. Have someone sit in the truck with it running and move the steering full turn back and forth. Look to see if there is anything leaking in that area.

It looks like it's a very very small drip where the lines come into. Ya think I shoud try to tighten it or just say screw it and go to the dealership.

i have an 02 ram and mine is leaking as well. but mine started at the rack and pinion. it then started leaking at the high pressure hose at the pump. i pinpointed mine to the fact that it is lifted and it requires more pressure to steer the bigger tires. btw it has 49000 miles on it.

After you said about a bigger tire, I'm wondering if that was my problem. I checked my tires and I was at 28 PSI. The truck came with 245/70/17 and I got 265/70/17 tires. I bumped the PSI to 37. Truck recommends 35, but that was with stock tires, and the mak psi on the tires now is 44. I was asking about tire pressuer in another topic. Maybe that was the problem. I'll just have to se.

Yeah, alot of vehicles especially the Quad Cabs, have been experiencing problems with Power steering fluid leaks.
If you do a search on the forum, you'll see several posts on the topic.

Alright, I took the truck to the dealership and they fixed the leak on my power steering pump. They asked if I wanted the 30,000 mi main, and asked about spark plugs. Should I change my plugs, I thought they were good for like 50,000mi.

30,000 miles on the plugs. Had 2 hoses replaced on my 04 and 1 steering rack. LOTS of problems with these.
