AC Blower motor shaking dash badly..
Hi guess I will be going to dealership had first problem with my 04 ram 1500 today. turned on the ac set it to max and sounded like a weedeater had just a lillle air flow from the vents even on high fan setting.
So I pulled the blower motor out was easy to get it out and found a plastic part that had broken off from the door thats right above the blower and the door is just laying over the hole above the blower so can not get any air flow the the blower due to that broken door hope its covered under waranty have 42k on truck now.
Has anyone else had this happen to there ram?

Went to dealer today and they said warnty was up last month go fig just the power train warnty is good now so they will not fix this blend door in the heater box unless I pay to get it done and they said about 500 bucks to fix a defective part from the factory, but might be more as may be more stuff broken inside that heater unit there sould be a recall on these heater boxes in these rams. I have never seen a blend door inside any car or truck break off in 2 years this is just crappy plastic they are useing and we all are going to have to deal with It sooner or later.
If it's truely just a blower motor, I'd just buy a replacement and install it myself. It's just a plug and a few bolts. I replaced a blower motor in my Toyota Highlander for $160 from the dealer--and they're the biggest ripoff for parts. Took 30 minutes. The truck doesn't look any harder. I thought I priced a blower motor from somewhere on the net for $80. If it's really the entire plenum, then that's a dealer only part and a real PITA to replace--tearing out the dash, purge and refill the A/C, etc.
No Its the blend door over top of the blower motor a tab that holds the door in place and makes it swing broke off so the door just fell down inside that heater blower box and is now blocking all airflow to the blower so no air or heat in the truck becouse this door fell out of place becouse the plastic just broke and there is no way to get to it without taking the dash out the hole dash that is so I am stuck with no air or heat becouse of this. But I will fix it myself so Its fixed right.
I'm with you on this. If you can do the work yourself, you'll spend the time to get it done right. I watched my son replace the A/C evaporator coil on my brother-in-laws Dodge truck--oh, boy was that a lot of work. Took all day. Good luck...
Got the door out without taking dash apart. reached up through the hole were the blower goes and just moved it around tell its fit back through. Now jsut have to get a new one and hope I can just feed it back onto the motor without taking apart the dash.
Here is a pic of the door you can see the motor just broke it right off when it jamed up . That little plastic piece was the couse of all the shakeing as it was in the fan putting it out of bal.

Guess I will have to wait tell next weekend to put the door in as have to get it from the dealer no parts stores have it. so I bet they will have to order it at the dealer parts dept. But ac is working good without the door in. Just pulls air from inside and outside at same time now is all, so at least its working without door in thats good for now.

Hey, I have the same broken parts in my glove box lol. The same exact thing happened to my 04 1500 Ram about a month and a half ago. I just bought it used about 4 months ago, the dealer warranty had just ran out but I'm paying for an extended warranty so I took it in. They couldn't even look at it for a week and guess what it was freakin cold out and I needed heat then. So I did the same as you and dropped the motor and reached up in there and pulled the broken parts out and got the heat back. I ended up having to work and missed when I was supposed to drop off my truck. There is no way to replace the part through the hole it came out of. I'm contenplating just leaving it off, I believe it just blocks the outside air when you want it on recirculate. Any thoughts on this?
Yes thats all its does is block the inside air or outside air depending on if you have ac max or reg were it draws air from outside.
with the door off it just draws frominside and outsideat same time is all so in summer might not get real cold AC air.
