topped up with wrong power steering fluid
I have seen incorrect fluid do a number on seals and such. I have also seen this with fluid that's been sitting around too long. The incorrect fluid turned the seals into a wrinkled up prunelike mess, and of course, that was a very expensive fix. Make sure you get all of that fluid out.
On the other note, if you have fluid that's been sitting around for some time - do not use it. It is much easier to purchase a $3.00 bottle of fluid than to do a major flush and repair. If I have brake fluid or power steering fluid hanging around for 12 months, I toss it out even if I know it has not been comprimised. Just my humble opinion - I don't wan't to see my fellow enthusiasts go through the trouble that I did once......
