Engine shut off wile driving
Hi, I know there was discusion about this before but never got solved, Today i towed about 2500lbs for about 4 hrs with stops when i got there went to back up in drivway , put it reverse the f***ing thing started shaking and died and started right up????. So i came back 4hrs with about 1500lbs . Get home leave the trailer start driving get to about 60km and the gauges drop truck dies wile moving and before i got a chance to pop it in N i heard a bang and it started back up on its own so i continued to drive to our office since it was close . Its 2003 Hemi 96k and its AUTO tranny . I cant get it checked for like a week , no were to go for codes but dealership . Does anyone know what is happening ?? Any advice would be great , i dont want to creat a bigger problem.
Thanks Luke.
Thanks Luke.
I also have the reverse problem... I think that was my thread discussing the problem before. My truck is a 07 HEMI 4x4 1500 w/ only 900 miles. I did talk to a corporate truck guy over the weekend and he said he will look into for me... so in a few more days I will have an answer.
How were you backing up? straight or a turn involved, how much gas, and how much did you move in reverse before it died?... I just want to see if it is the exact same as my problem.

When was the last time the TB was cleaned and the plugs/wires changed? Is there a check engine light? You can do the key trick to check the codes. I believe it is on-off-on with the key like 7 times. I forget the number of times. Just search and you'll find what I'm talking about.
O.K thanks will tyr tonight . And (moparkj) i just put in R and let go of brake and it died , my wheels were turned all the way right and slight hill . So overall i didnt move at all just shut off an me , had it happen before a long time now , but yesturday also died while driving . Will see tonight hope it dont happen . Yeah please let me know if you find aything out about this issue. Thanks Luke
There was a TSB that cited a blown/leaking internal spin-on filter in the transmission that resulted in a low pressure indication to the PCM. The PCM shuts down the engine thinking there's trans failure. Not sure if it's the cause of your problem, but it wouldn't hurt to make sure.
My 2004 Hemi with 30k just shut off a couple times at highway speeds. The dealer checked it out and replaced the EGR sensor. That fix the problem so far. But now my overhead computer reads 130 F and stays there
Hey (reiderr) i just had tranny service done , would they have changed/checked the spin on filter??
Thx for input guys i decided to take time off and go to dealer with this and solve it before it happens again . Ifanything gets done about this i will post .

. Our superior evolutionary skills allow us humans to adapt to higher temperatures, while the scientists, who praise past evolution, want us to help the weaker animals that can't adapt.
I would hope so since there's a TSB on it. But, the Schedule A maintenance recommends only replacing the internal spin-on filter every 60k miles. But, I'm with you to let the dealer diagnose the problem especially if it's still under warranty.
