Default Installing tow mirrors

If I'm asking this question I guess there no hiding that I'm not much of a mechanic! I just bought replacement tow mirrors for my 2006 2500. They will maintain my auto adjust and defrost capabilities, but are manual flip ups for towing. My question is how to install them. I was told to simply take the door panel off and there would be a bolt of two along with a wire plug. Sounds rather easy ... even for me. However, I need help with the first step ... how do I remove the door panel?

Thanks.

Jeff

Default RE: Installing tow mirrors

The door panel is easy to remove. There's a bolt to remove the internal door handle (pull the door handle out as if opening the door to access the bolt), and then a philips head screw behind where the handle was. Then there are two more philips head screws at the bottom of the door panel underneath the door pockets. Then simply slide the door panel upwards an inch before pulling it away from the door (you'll notice the door panel'hooks' itself to the door). Disconnect any wiringto the window controlsto set the door panel aside (opening the window first helps with handling the mirror) The door mirros are held on with 3 nuts and the electrical connector should be right there between the 3 nuts. Make sure you have someone support the mirror when you unscrew the nuts!

Hope this helps....

Cheers,
Mark
