Default I really need some help guys...

ok last night where i live it was flooding BAD. only on the ends of the street, the middle wasnt that bad, but i had to go through the deepest water to get to my house, which wasa little less than halfway up my grille. im pretty sure i didnt get any water into the intake, and if i did, i didnt get enough in the intake to cause any serious problems because i didnt even stall out. but now my horn sounds puny, and i seem to be losing some performance. when i get on it to pull into traffic, it just doesnt have the same get up and go it used to. if i had a hemi, it might be ok, but since its only a 4.7, if i lose much more performance id be better off riding a bike. also my brakes and steering seem to be not right. do yall think im just being paranoid, or do you think i might have really messed something up? i know the horn is screwed, it might dry out, but i doubt it will, but thats minor, im more worried about my brakes, steering, and engine.

you might try pulling the air filter out and let it dry out. only thing i can think of is maybe the filter is water logged not alowing enough air flow. and your horn is full of water too.

You should also consider changing all the fluids. Water could have gotten into the vents of the diffs, etc.

The horn may dry out and be ok.

The deep water was being thrown all around under the hood by the fan and belts. Probably got a ton of stuff wet and that is what is causing some more problems.

That sucks man but I agree with everyone else, you more than likely got water in/on your filter and a wet filter would cause it to bog down, Change all your fluids, your horn may be SOL but who knows the water could dry up and it could work perfectly fine again. As for your brakes, they probably got warped when you submerged them in water. The pads may have also hardend when it went from hot to cold so fast but Im not 100% on the properties of the pads but you may have to dish out some dough and buy a new setup for all four brakes. And if something is wrong with your brakes it will usually affect your streering as well so who knows you may be able to killl two birds with one stone by replacing the bakes.

As others have stated, replace the air filter. Part of the air intake is just infront of the passenger's side wheel well. You could have easily become wet.

As far as all the fluids, check your engine oil and see if looks like milk chocolate. If it does, change it immediately and then drive for a day or so and change it again. The tranny would have probably been toast by now if you had a lot of water in it, check it too, though. The rear end needs to be checked as well. Pop the little rubber cover on the rear pumpkin and have a looksee.

I would venture to guess that everything is OK except the horn and filter. Both are easily replaced.

ok thanks for the responses. after driving it for two days now, i think i was just being paranoid. i drove it all over the place today, and had to pull out into heavy traffic quite a few times. the performance was just the same as it has always been and the brakes and steering are fine. i think i was just being paranoid and started noticing every little quirk of the truck. the horn is really the only thing thats messed up but im not gonna pay to fix it so it can stay like it is. i was due for an oil change this weekend anyways and i switch it over to synthetic, and was planning on changing out all my fluids anyways. thanks for all the help yall.

if it helps to ease your mind any, IF water did get in your engine, it would have stopped the engine. Air will compress, water wont. :-)
