Default Just Bought an 07 1500 Megacab!!

Hey Guys,

I just picked up an 07 Hemi Megacab and I LOVE it. So much room and decent power. The only complaint I have is of course the gas mileage. I know, I know, I bought a big truck, nota honda. I don't really care, but I did not think it would be this bad. I have 1000 miles on it now and am getting 9.5 in the city and have had no highway yet. When didyou notice the mileage get better? Also, the book says to use 89 fuel but it also says that 87 is "acceptable". What do you guys run in yours?

Thanks

Marty

I'm glad you asked about the fuel. I was going to ask the same thing.

Dude, don't use 87. 89 is better for the motor (keeping it clean) and also burns cleaner. Don't waste your time with 87 because the money that you're saving per fill up, you will lose with lost gas mileage, especially if you have hot summer weather because it will cause detenation (pinging). I used 87 when I first got this truck (bought it used) and after 3 months I threw a code. I took it to the stealership because it was under warranty and they did a tune-up because the motor retarded itself to tune the power down to 300bhp. The regualr gas clogged my fuel rail too so it sucked. If you want more mpg then get some Pacesetter Long Tube Headers and and intake with an exhaust. That will give you 3-4mpg. Glad you like the truck, give us pics!!!

I just got an 06 mega cab with the HEMI. I have a little under 2,000 miles on it. I am getting about 9.5 in the city, and i mean city, I live in arlington, va right next to DC. On the highway I get about 14.5. I am hoping that it will get better mpg when i change the oil to synthetic.

Most engines get better with time. As parts break in and wear better then your mileage goes up don't sweat it man.

I hear ya brother, I never thought it would be this bad either. I have an 06 qc 4x4 4.7. It has 6000 miles on it and I still get 10 mpg which I feel is totally unacceptable and the 14-18 window sticker is very misleading. Gas mileage is a downfall with dodge.

dont feel bad guys I just bought an o6 2500 mega cab 2500 4x4 with 4.10 rear end and only get at best on my second fill average of 11.5 mpg including half on the highway! I love the truck but got very mislead when people wer saying they got 14 in the city and 17 on the highway. I hope when the engine breaks in it will do better!what do you guys think?
