PERFORMANCE THERMOSTAT INSTALL?
I just installed mine on my 02' Ram 1500 5.9L. its acually pretty easy. first you remove that rod from the alternator, i think it just holds it in place better, and keeps it from moving, its on the top on the alternator, you will know what im talking about when you look at it, so just get that rod turned out of the way, oh, and before youtake anything else off, make sure you drain somecoolant, or do what i did, and justput a pan under your truck, andthen where the radiator hose goes to the engine, undo those two bolts, or just loosen them until all the coolant comes out. i would recommend draining instead though.. haha then, completely remove the two bolts, and pull the hose up and out, them remove the old thermo.put the new one in, with the springs facing down, then lay the gasket on top, andto make it easier to reinstall the radiator hose, take the thermo. housing off of it (thats themetal tubeon the end of the hose) then, take that metal housingyou just took off, and bolt it in place, using the same bolts you took off, andthere is alittle tab on it that says "front" and guess what? this needs to be on the front side haha then onec you have that tightened down, take the hose clamp on theendof the hose and squeeze it together while its on the hose, and slide the hose down onto the thermo. housing, then just make sure everything isflush, let the clampgo, and you're done. Dont forget to add some coolantto replace what you took out in the beggining. and after you drive it once, check the coolant, thenthe next day or so, check coolant. you might have to add a little, but make sure there are no leaks around the thermostat housing or anything. I'm pretty sure thats all, if anyone has corrections, feel free to tell me haha but this is how i did it, and my truckis doin fine, so good luck!! PM me if you want some pictures of it.
oh, i forgot too add this...you probably wanna reattach that rod on the alternator haha sorry i forgot to mention that.

Got a question. If this Thermostat is so good, why didn't they install it at the factory? Is the truck even designed to have such a thermostat installed? I've heard of the company called Stant, if i'm not mistaken they also make gas caps...
boy do i feel stupid haha, i was tryin to think why the thermostat made such a differnce, and i realized that before i put it in, i programmed my truck with a hypertech programmer, i had it set for 89 octane, then i put in the thermostat but i forgot that i had reprogrammedmy truck again, butfor 93 octane...haha thats why it had so much more power haha sorry about that, i completely spaced on that one. but i think since they make your engine run about 25 degrees cooler, they do give you a couple hp i would guess?
