That super chip tuner is warentied to you only. If the buyer does not have the exact updates you had on it when you got it it will not work on their truck. Further if Dodge ever puts out an update then the new owner of the chip may have to decide weather to get the dodge update or to keep the superchip. If you try to get anything close to full price you need to make sure the buyer is aware they are gambling.

Well I read this post last night when there only like 3 replies, but it got me thinking, so I did a little experimenting today. Figured I would publish my results.

As background: After I programmed my truck with superchips performance 91, I did notice a sound difference in shift ONLY into overdrive. All other gear-to-gears sounded just fine to me.

Today's experiment:

- Drove the truck as normal still programmed to P91. Paid close attention to the shift sound into OD.
- Plugged in the flashpaq, set it back to 'stock'.
- Drove the truck as normal at stock, and that sound went away!
- Plugged in the flashpaq, set it back to P91.
- Drove the truck in "overdrive off", and never heard the sound.

Hypothesis conclusion: Something indeed does change in the shifting sounds, but in my truck ONLY when it shifts in OD (I believe I'm hearing it at shift 3rd to 4th).

I can tell from listening to the sound/video clip posted at the beginning of this post, it sounds NOTHING like that. That sounds like a broken transmission. Mine doesn't sound broken, it just sounds like a "rougher" shift than with it set at stock (at stock setting, I hear nothing at all, just see the RPMs go down).

Again, this is just an observation, for what it's worth. I would be interested to hear if anyone else with an '06 with Superchips experiences the same thing, but it doesn't have me worried.

My final note is, I have studied the warranty stuff at exhausting length. Any dealer can tell you "your warranty is void" but that's meaningless. By law (federal law by the way) they have to prove that a modification you did to the vehicle caused (direct relationship causal) the problem experienced/breakage. By they, in this case I mean DC. The dealer is just a middle man in the whole deal, and at the end of the day, they either cure your headache or cause a another one, but they don't have any real say in the matter. They are not the warranting agency, the warranting agency is either DC or for some people a third-party warranty company. Sorry for the long statement, but after so many posts on warranty issues I decided to invest the time in dig into the legalese for what it is, and after doing that, I'm not worred about warranty issues in the slightest.

Stroker, I have never heard that and I have heard of many people buying chips used for their trucks.

I got my truck back and the 2nd gear and overdrive clutches were burned out and the valve body had to be replaced. Lol my dad asked if this was a common problem with these transmissions and the service advisor said no, this is a VERY rare problem haha.

You might check with SuperChips on that. I bought one for my 04 off of e-bay and because there had been a service update preformed on my truck since the programmer was bought it was unable to to install. I checked all over with several customer service poeple from dodge and Super Chips and in the long run was just screwed out of $150. Luckily the guy refunded my money but I was still out the shipping.

Thanks for the heads up, I have had one service update I believe on the tuner so I'll let people know.

ORIGINAL: Horseapples

where the hell is a good old 727 when you need one!
The old bulletproof Torqueflite. I heard that the 4.7L V8's 4-spd auto tranny (I don't remember that model) is actually more durable than the 5.7L Hemi's auto tranny (5-spd yes?). Someone set me straight please, if I'm wrong.

Yes any manual basically is because our trannies weak link is when down shifting from freeway speeds at WOT. It throws the truck into second gear prime and blows out clutch packs. If we had a manual there would be no prime gears and we would have good transmissions.

from what I am gathering, it seems that if you refrain from WOT at highway speeds, there wont be an issue. I come from a drag racing background and can tell you that this truck has MORE than enough power at half throttle to pass just about anything. I have trouble understanding why you would want to go WOT anyway? But if the clutch packs are weak, then a simple rebuild with better materials is all thats needed, right?

Trucks are not race cars!

tell that to the diesel guys...

a truck is meant to work, and people should drive them as such. If you wanted to go fast, buy the magnum or charger!
