Default Steering Trouble

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 4.7L Magnum 4x2. The steering wheel has become harder to turn just in the past couple months that I've had it. When I first bought it it was super easy, and now it is tougher (especially turning to the right for some reason). I haven't checked the power steering fluid so I'll do that before anything obviously, but is this gen of Rams having some occasionally steering problems or is it just my truck? There is a light "churn" as well. It first started doing this when it got called out, but it has warmed to (to over 60 deg. F up from about 0 deg. F), and it still does it. There is very little if any swaying left and right of the truck when the wheel is held in one position/looseness of steering (like as if the tybar was bad on many vehicles).
