well my 2500 seems to haul quite well I've had my share of block in there plenty of firewood runs.. no problems....

 

get the ride-rite bags from firestone. No drilling, you can install it in about an hour and half. with 100psi in them they can hold up to 5000 more pounds. But a story was that some guy put that much weight in his bed. the airbags held up keeping the ride level but he went over railroad tracks and the weight actually cracked the frame. So you should always follow the gvwr of the truck. when unloaded youshould keep 5psi in them.

 

When I inquired about air bags I got an alarming amount of feedback about the Firestone bag material being prone to dry rotting and failure, it seemed most recommended the Air Lift Ride Control kit.

I bought it and it's been perfect. About a 2 hr. install for one person in the driveway. I've made many posts about them w/pics. Do a search for more info...

 

yea definitely search on airbags... ive seen them multiple times on here.......

 

Airbags are the only way to go.

 

dont forget...if you were to get into some kind of crash and you had more weight in the bed then you should have your in for a whole big mess.....

 

oh all these airbag manufactures all use firestone bags, they just make there own style brackets. The firstone ride-rite uses heavy duty bags vs air lifts ride control setup. I also suggest going to a big rig shop and buying the big rig airlines. there the same as the originals just alot tougher.

 

Now I'm not looking to start nuthin' here, but when I was looking for bags to correct for my ATV being in the way back of my bed because I had a toolbox, I posted on anotherpopular forum about thinking of getting the Firestones. I was not a member here at the time and I was going to get the Firestones because, honestly, they were the only ones I ever heard of. A guy posted where the Firestones had a recall about 2 years earlier (would be about4 years now) because the bags were prone to dry rot & failure. I got the entry level truck bags from Air Ride because as it was, their 2000# capacity was more than I needed, and frankly, didn't want to spend the extra $75 or so on the Firestones. (I'll try to find the post about the recall).
As far as them all using Firestone bags, there is an interesting article in "4 Wheel Performance" magazine from either Sept. or Oct. where they toured there facility and showedamong other things,their bag manufacturing process.
I am not trying to sway anyone away from buying the Firestones, I know people who have them and have never had a problem. I'm simply stating why, at the time, I did not purchase them.

 

not to sound like a smart a** but firestone makes all the big rig bags that last 2 million miles so the technoligy is probably good now days. any way air bags are the best way to go period.
