PLOWS ARE NOT REALLY HARD ON THE TRUCK. THE PLOWERS ARE HARD ON THE TRUCKS. I'VE PLOWED FOR 12 YEARS HERE IN THE SNOWBELT OF CLEVELAND, WE'RE GETTING 12" by monday matter of fact. shifting DOESN'T KILL TRANNYS, TRANNY RUNNING HOT BURNS TRANNYS. YOU HAVE TO PREP YOUR TRUCK. HEAVY DUTY COIL SPRING IN THE FRONT, TRANNY COOLER. COMPLETE STOP BEFORE SHIFTING. SURE, OVER 4 YEARS YOU'LL BE REPLACING A BALL JOINT HERE AND THERE BUT IF JUST DOING DRIVEWAYS, NO WORRY. IF YOUR CARRYING A SALT SPREADER, BULK OR PALLETIZED SALT, THAT WEIGHT WITH 20 HOURS STRAIGHT OF BACK AND FORTH, THATS PUNISHMENT. WE RUN ALL BOSS SNOWPLOWS UP HERE. 7'6" STRAIGHT BLADES AND THE 8'2" V-BLADES ARE PERFECT. ANY QUESTIONS JUST IM ME AND I DEFINATELY WILL HAVE THE ANSWER FOR YOU. ONLY 4 PLACES ON EARTH GET LAKE EFFECT SNOW, AND I LIVE IN THE MIDDLE OF ONE OF THEM.

The owners manula says not to put a plow on the 1500 models. Does anyone out there have a plow on their 1500 and why does doge say not to do it?

Thanks

THE FRAMES ON THE 1500 ARE WATER BENT. THEY HAVE A SPECIAL TERM LIKE HYDRO BENT WHATEVER. IF YOU TWEEK THE FRAME ON THE 1500, IT IS SCRAP. WHEREAS THEY CAN STRAIGHTEN 2500 AND UP. YOU CAN TWEEK FRAMES PLOWING IF YOU CURB IT GOING TO FAST ETC. THE PLOW SUBFRAME IS ATTACHED THE THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK. MAKE SENSE?

I have a snowbear plow and I love it. Works great for plowing my 250' long driveway....and a few neighbors driveways.

It's a small plow and it's not as hard on your truck as a full size plow. Chances are the frame on the plow will bend before the frame on your truck will.
I don't think I'd ever put a full size plow on a 1500.

thanks alot for all the information i will probably get one after i get new rims and tires next year. right now i am looking at the snowbear just because of the cost of fulsized plows or mayb a western or fisher small personal plow which is what i would really like, but i have fishing rod holders on the front of my truck mounted to the lower crome piece is there enough room for a plow to be attached or would i have to take them off? the snow bear seems to be slanted forward more alowing more room infront of the bumper or is it just about the same amount of space? also for myself is it worth it to get one to start a very small snowplow business consisting of me and a small plow doing just a couple of my nieghbors houses or should i just be thinking along the lines of using it for myself?

The one thing you will have to do is get a front end alignmet once you are done with the plowing season. My FD put a plow on our brush truck (85' F-250) and once we're done the alignment is always terrible. Everyone I have ever talked to that has a plow says the same thing.

thats good to know also does anyoune have any pics of the snowbear on a 1500, a pic of the space between the plow and the front bumper would be great i just want to make sure there is enough room for my rod holders if not im not going to get one. also are there any other plows i should now about that won't put me in debt that has all the features of a fullsized plow because for me it is sadly coming down to the money unless i wait a year what do you guys think?

Post a pic of your rod holder and I'll tell you if it'll fit.

Sno way makes some ice smaller plows.
