I,m looking at trading my 01 Dakota for an 03 Ram 1500[ Hemi]
I have heard that this yr Hemi is to run only on 97 oct. unless it has an aftermarket chip.....is this right?

false, ours runs on 87 just fine

I would recommend 89 if you're towing or drive through hills regularly, but other than that mine is happy with 87.

 

I run 89 and sometimes 91. Mine loves the 89 over the 87 for some reason.

 

Where can i get 97octane!?!?!? here in NY Long Island, 93oct is the highest...... there is a gas station right up on route 112 by me and they sell 100oct race fuelfor like $5.25 a gallon....... There are ALOT of racers out here on the island...

 

"catch my drift" , I know the place on rt 112 very well . I used it to get the 100 octane for my Rx , before I sold it. Like you said the most I've seen is 93oct at the Amoco gas stations. I use it with my performance superchip set up ,but would not dare put the 100 from the Rt 112 station. I do believe it would make the combustion hotter.
