hemi oil change
Well, I did the first oil change. I now have a dumb question....
Does anyone have any tips/tricks on how to do this w/o making a mess? I've changed oil on vehicles countless times before, but this one made a mess out of me.
The part that got me was removing the filter. While I was at the end of unscrewing it, that very thin oil comes out of there like nobody's business. hitting anything and everything under it.
I've never messed with this thin of oil before.....

RE: hemi oil change
I just picked up an oil filter adapter from the local dealer. This bolts up to the oil filter mounting surface, offsets the filter by 45*, and includes a trough for the oil to flow along. P/N is 53021610AE. You also need the large o'ring (the small o'ring comes with the adapter), and three bolts to mount it to the engine block. Otherwise, you can use a 2 liter soda bottle, cut the bottom off, and with the cap on, hold it upside down beneath the filter as you loosen it. Then once the oil is in the upside down bottle, you can dispense it into a drain pan.
