Default vibration under accel.

my first post.

I have an 02 Ram 1500 quad 4x4 5.9L and under acceleration I get this vibration. If I let off the gas it goes away. I notice it in town and on the hiway...on the hiway if I use cruise it seems to settle down.

thinking it a tire issue, cousin mentioned the plys might be seperating, but then also might be around the tranny..ie u-joint

just wondering if anyone else has had this issue, before i go and spend money to fix it.

shudder, not fast. Like you said, like a bump on the tire but stops when I stop accelerating. Maybe yous right and there is a TSB. I'm gonna search for that.

there was a few things i found, from driveshaft out of balance to rear axle pinion gears not meshing right.

I gotta learn how to bookmark things better..lol

A tire that has a seperated thread will typically vibrate with proportion to speed...faster you go more intense the vibration. Do your trucks have the vibration while revving without a load? If the answer is yes then the problem is independent of the driveline. If the answer is no, is the problem only under acceleration (normal vs hard), only within certain speeds etc. need more info to give better description of possible solutions.

its a steady vibration under acceleration, does seem greater the harder Im on the gas

no load, under normal and hard...thru 20 km/hr thru to 120 km. any time Im on the accerator.

It settles once i go on cruise control around 120..not nearly as noticable, but mostly when ever Im on the gas...in town or the hiway...so much so it vibrates the mirrors.

have you tried to rev the engine in park or neutral and see if there is a vibration? how many miles/ kilometers do you have on the truck and when was the last time you did a tune up?

If the vibration is there from 20 km/hr to 120 under acceleration,
but goes away when you coast down from 120 to 20 km/hr
then it is more likely a torque converter "shutter"
or one of your 8 cylinders missfiring
perhaps due to ignition wire cross-fire
or just a dirty fuel injector.

If the vibration is still there during the coast down too,
it is more likely a tire problem
or a driveline imbalance....
