Default How do I disable horn when locking doors.

I've been trying to figure out how to disable the very annoying feature of horn honking when doors are locked with remote. When I come home at night my horn tends to wake the neighborhood (I have a very powerful horn installed). I believe there may be some way to disable this through programming, flicking the ignition on and off etc.
Perhaps somebody also know how to cancel the feature that leaves the headlights on for some time after shutting down.

Well as far as the headlights, if you turn them off before you turn the truck off they wont stay on

There are instructions in your owner's manual which tell you how to do this. However, many of us have had difficulty attempting this (as in now matter how many times we tried, we weren't successful). If that is the case with you, a simple 15 minute visit to the dealer will result in them re-programming the truck's computer to eliminate the horn blowing when you lock the doors. I had to have that done with mine, even though it's a brand new '07. In the meantime, to appease your neighbors, you can simply use the lock/unlock button on the driver's arm rest to lock the doors when you exit the vehicle.

Agreed. I spent about 10 mins trying to disable the horn with the instructions in the manual. I was successful in disabling the light flash, but not the horn.I ended up going to the dealer. My service guy was not aware that this could be done and it took some explaination from me to get him going. Tell them that you want to change the 'customer preferences' using their StarScan diagnostic computer (I think that's what it was called)and then about the horn. That will probablyget them going in the right direction.

Is the alarm on if you lock the door from the door switch?

Thanks guys, I found the section in the OM and disabled the chirp when I lock the doors (Topawam, I don't have alarm installed though). I also disabled the paranoialock that locks the rig when going faster than 15MPH. I also make itunlock all doors with only one push on the remote. Much better![sm=smiley20.gif]
Now I only have to figure out how to disable the auto light feature (try w/o going to the stealer).

Not sure that you will be able to configure the auto light feature....I've never seen anything that referenced that specific function. However, as Erock509 stated, if you get in the habit of turning the lights off before you shut down the engine, the problem is solved. If you forget, turning the lights on and off twice will turn them off.

"I also disabled the paranoialock that locks the rig when going faster than 15MPH."

If you've ever had an attempted car-jacking, you will likethis feature. I have, the vehicle I was driving didn't have it, but I was lucky I just happened to lock my cars doors that night. He tried to open the passenger side. Freaked my girlfriend out and I blew threw a red light getting out of there.

Don't know if he wanted my new car, my girlfriend or both. Next time he could get hot lead from Mr. Glock [sm=violent053.gif]

I understand your point but I live in peaceful Europe where carjacking is unheard of (thank god).
But I admit that I lock my cars and house at night...sometimes.
