Default thinking of buying 03 ram 2500 hemi

hey guys im new here im looking at a 03 2500 long bed reg cab 2wd hemi ram. its got 95k on it and the bed is beat up really bad from god know what in the bed and wasnt tied down. it was definatly a work truck the bumpers dented up and a broken tailight also.

i drove it it went real good and brakes were nice too. im new to rams but im a big dodge fan ive had a 69 charger R/T se for 7 years now .

anyway i want to use it as daily truck and to haul firewood and whatever, also opccasionally tow my car if needed. do all hemis have the mds or is that a option. i dont know much about the new stuff im a oldschool motorhead. what kind of mileage should i expect outta it it is a 2wd so hopefully that helps a bit anyway. i will probably do a intake and exhaust to help in the power and mpg department.

basicly any info you could give me would be greatly appreciated im leaning towards getting it as of now btw its $6000 what do you guys think thanks , Mike

Welcome to the Dodge Forums Mike!

6k sounds like a resonable price for a 03 with that mileage, especially since it's a 2500. The bed being beat up is no biggie, hope that the body is ok though!

Not all Hemi's have MDS, and MDS wasn't available in the Ram until 2006 and is only in the 1500 model, not the 2500, so either way in your 03 you will not have the MDS.

Mileage is a big question which depends on your driving habits, but most Hemi owners see mileage from about 12-14 on city streets, and 15-18 on the Highway, depending on the model.

I hope I could help some Mike, and let us know if you make the purchase!

Mike I've got the exact same truck with 85,000 miles and its' been the best truck I've ever owned. I pull trailers loaded with cows and hay all the time and also move alot of fire wood. The only problem I've had was this last fall the warning light for the emision system came on and turned out to be something with a cam sensor. Took it to the dealer and had it fixed and drove it for a couple of weeks and it came on again and I took it back to dealer and had it fixed again. Hasn't come on since. Cost me several hundred dollars though. I currently am having a small problem with the Heater/AC control. Sometimes the heat/ac will blow out of the passenger vents rather than the defroster or floor, but doesn't do it all the time so I don't worry about it alot. I bought the truck new and I wouldn't let it go for $6000 so I don't imagine you could go wrong.
