Default Speakers / Amp. upgrade

Just got my new truck with a lot of option but the "regular" sound system. I want to keep the original radio w/sirius but I am looking to upgrade the rest. Here is what I was advised to install:
Profile AP74060W x 4 Car Amp
Polk Audio db 6906"x9" 3-way - Front
Polk Audio db 6506-1/2" 2-way - Rear
What do you think? Somebody knows those Polk speakers, quality etc...
All feedback greatly appreciated.

you need to drop some sub's under the seat and add a 300x2 or more to it. you will bepleased with the sound. also add a set of tweets to the front dash this will bring out you high's other than that you should be happy as hell

no way dude heres what you need to do. put some 3 1/2in speakers in your dash (its the only thing that will fit) either polk or infinity, then for your dooors 6X9 polk, then for the rear corner 4X6 polk or infinitys, then youll need subs (trust me youll need them) put 2 10in rockford fosgate punch p3 subs, and finally power all of your speakers with amps they will sound 300% better if you do. then your truck will be the cremè de la cremè of this forum, until i get my system to work again( my friend spilled his drink all over the speakers when i was installing them.)

What you picked out prices at $309.97 + shipping. I think you can do better.

Check this out:

I would two pairs of 6.5" for better sound quality
JL TR 6.5" http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...Product_ID=936

And this amp should be a little better: 80x4 http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...Product_ID=445

About $10 cheaper. Not much of a price difference but the quality of the speakers/amp is much better. I wouldn't add another pair of 3.5" in the dash at this point unless you want to spend a lot more. The stock HU won't allow you much control at all and you will time alignement issue and genrally will sound bad. Also another 2 channels of amp will be needed.

My wife had the Mach Audio in her old mustang. This thing had subwoofers on the door, about a 6X9 with a mid/tweet on the top of the door. I have been trying to find something like that, like sub 5.25" to put on my rear doors. All the 5.25" I find cant go that low or have some bass. Her Mach Audio speakers were just on the door like our speakers are, yet using the door space could create a nice bass. Anybody found aftermarket speakers that fit the front or rear doors that have a nice bass, such as a component or something?

Go with JL's. They will just sound the cleanest, unless you listen to a lot of rap, then go with Kicker. Put some sound deadening stuff down (you don't have to do the whole ride, just start with the doors and add on along with your budget). I agree with powering those speakers, and go with componets if you can. Even though you may have the non-Infinity stereo package with your truck, you can still mount those componet (tweeters) in the factory locations (under the seperate section of the dash closer to the windshield). At least (the very least) go with a single 10" sub... it truly does make all of the difference.

I have a 10 and it doesnt sound that good. Then again, mine is not DVC. Does a DVC really make a difference? Let me know so I can sell these bastards and get DVC. My amp kicks at 2ohms 500W max, so I am guessing 300RMS to 2 channels. Since I have a single, I am using only 1 channel. Can I use the other channel to power the components?
Thanks whoever answers.

JL subs do tend to produce good sounding bass, it makes no absolutely no difference whatsoever what music you listen too. The sub is about 30% of the equation, that leaves 70% to the install. How you position the sub, what type of box you use, what size box you use, the materials of the box you use, the power both clean and unclean, the crossover point(s) all influence greatly how much volume you will get and the quality of such.

The amount of voice coils is simply to aid in wire configurations and the possible ohm load that sub can present to the amp. Picture your truck that can carry 1000lbs of passengers. Does having 2 bucket seats in front or 1 bench seat (the different seats weigh the same) affect the how many pounds of passenger it can carry? No.

You could use one channel to power the amp, and the other channel to power the set of compenets yes. Doing so would not give you stereo sound as you would have only one channel of audio available for both the left and right sides. I wouldn't do it because i want to hear things on the left that are only supposed to be on the left, but if you like the sound then that is what matters.
