Default Mirrors

Just got blind-sided by some douche-nozzle in his rickety-*** Ford Econoline. As I was almost past him in the left turn lane, he decides he needs to turn too. Without looking or signaling, he starts to pull out and smacks my passenger side mirror which then shatters into a million pieces. I'm just lucky that it's already getting hot here and I had the windows upbecause ofthe A/C. So anyways, I stop, and he pulls back into his lane and speeds off leaving me at the left turn red light and I didn't catch his license plates. So I say "fugg it" and go home. Best case scenario for me if I call the cops is he's some illegal that gets deported and I'd still have a broken mirror. Waste of damn time.

Long story, long, I now need a mirror. Since I don't really like the GIGANTIC blind spot provided by my bigger-than-Chevy-or-Ford regular cab, I figured I'd go ahead and get the towing mirrors that have the nice blind spot mirrors already built in. Called my dealership and those fuggers are almost $400! So I check ebay, and there still about $255 plus $32 shipping plus about a week in waiting without my passenger side mirror.

Sorry for the obscenities but I'm still really pissed about all this. Anybody have any suggestions or better places to look? I really don't want to spend the $400 but now realize that I'm going to have to fork out at least $270. Thanks, at least, for giving me a place to vent. Time for a few beers.

That sucks. I replaced my regular mirrors with the tow mirrors. They are spendy. I still have the stock ones like you have now. Make me an offer if you want to stick with what you have.

Good luck

Bit the bullet and just finished putting the new tow mirrors on. I already like them. Guess I'll just have to get over the price shock. $392 and change. Guy said he gave me a discount and the original price was like $420. I don't know if he really did, but at least I'll be able to use that mirror now.

That was for the set. Took about 30 minutes to put em on. I didn't take the door panels completely off, though. I left the door handles attached (mostly because I didn't have the right size torx head) and took out all the rest of the screws that hold the panel on. Then just lifted the panel up and out as far from the door as I could and went to town. Pretty simple. Hardest part was reaching into my wallet to pay for them.
