Default Stalling Problem

Has anyone heard of an '05 Ram 1500 4X4 QC (Daytona) stalling under moderate to heavy breaking??? It has happened four times in the last 24 hours! Twice when the anti-locks kicked in (it was snowing), once pulling into a parking space and once because I was driving too fast and had to brake hard.

I Googled the problem but did not find anything useful...

UPDATE: I have used nothing but 87 octane Sunoco fuel in the 11K I have driven it (bought it with 23 miles on ODO). It has the 5.7L Hemi. Stalling only happens during braking.

if the motor dies as soon as you come to a stop it could be the transmission lockup silonoid. (my spelling sucks) or maybe the IAS.

Did it actually stall or was it starting to stall?

It actually stalls, but funny you should ask... today at lunch it started to stall as I was approaching a red light... I saw the tach wind way down into the 100RPM range and then wind back up to normal idle (~700RPM).

helopilot -- nice truck!

I know on mine if I slam on the brakes really hard it will almost die. I saw a post on one of the forums that Dodge did it on purpose (the stalling) so that if you were in an accident it would basically shut off the car. Who knows????? I will read some in the maintenance manual and see what I can find.

Default RE: Stalling Problem

A week or so ago I started a thread here about my 2005 4.7 V8 1500 Ram stalling as I'm slowing down to stop or turn. Several people have the same problem with other Rams and Durangos. Seach around and you'll find several threads - but none with a cure. The 2 Dodge dealers I talked to and 1 of whom looked at and tested my truck say nothing is wrong with mine and that they have not heard of the problem. Even though I called the same dealer 2x and they said both times that it was the first they heard of the problem- so I'm know they're not telling me the truth. Good luck and stay safe.
