Default 20" Wheels Question??

I have an 06 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with the factory 20's on it... I just installed the leveling kit on my truck and i was wanting to drop down to 17" wheels with some mud tires.. I was told that 17's will not fit because of the calipers used on these truck with the 20's.... Does anyone have any info. on this??

99% of the 17's will fit. The stock ones definitely will.

After I cheaked on the price of new tires for my truck I wanted to get smaller rims and
I was told the same thing if the truck had stock 20"s the smaller rims would not fit because of the calipers, so it is probable true.

That's weird, I have put some of my buddy's 17's on at the track multiple times and they fit just fine. All of the other guys that have put 17's on have fit as well. It must be true though. They must put different size calipers on the trucks with 20's cuz that would be cheaper than putting the same size calipers on all of the trucks.

Sport package only came with 20's, brakes are bigger. SLT package have a option for 17's or 20's. Mine actualy come with the wrong rims,it is supposed to have black chrome but I have chrome on there.

So are you saying that the Sport has bigger calipers and so does the SLT depending on which wheels you choose?[sm=insomnia.gif] If that's the case, you're saying you get bigger calipers on the SLT if you choose 20's? Maybe it's just me, but that doesn't make much sense.

i have a SLT 1500 that came with the stock 20's on it and i took them off and put 17" eagle alloys on no problem with plenty of room. I think the people you are talking to are thinking about 16" rims, cause 16" will 100% not fit on. You should have no problem with putting 17's on
