Default Help in using the Superchips Flashpaq Tuner

Ok well i just Got my tuner today and need some help as to how I should program it. I'm looking for a little performance boost and when i get my new tires, to recalibrate the speedo. I started to read through the book and I'm not sure of a few options,,i.e. rev limiter?, speed limiter?? sounds obvious but will the truck really go 140???,,and one I think was for shifting , stated something to the affect for 1,2 then 3,4???tuning level??cant remember exactly,, but how should I program my truck?,,oh and also when i hooked it up it did not say anyhting about needing to be updated, so do i still need to go on the internet and update through the website?,,any help would be appreciated,,thnx

I would up date the tuner before starting. If you are not running supreme, set the tuner to 87 octane economy untill you get the tank full of super.Set the mph limiter to whatever you wish, and no,I dont think a brick like the Dodge will do 140,I have mine set to the highest level anyway just for ****s and giggles. To set the shift points, well thats up to you also, mine are set at 6000 rpm, works just fine, remember this is wide open throttle shift points. Set 2/3 shift slightly lower to keep your truck out of the hi-rpm levels for extended times. It takes a lot shorter time to reach 6000 rpm in first than it does in third!! You will find that your truck will out perform the stock setting in economy,It will realy rock on performance, but make sure you have good fuel in the tank before going to performance .Dont re-program at the pump either, drive it home so the lines are purged of low octane fuel also.Hope this helps

I programmed the truck and noticed a big difference. Much quicker all around and especially when the pedals on the floor. the only thing i noticed was when driving normally, it took much longer to shift from first to second in the 15-25mph range, it felt like it was stuck, why is this? and also when stock the doors locked when the truck reached 15mph,,now it didnt lock until 25mph,,i know you can disable that, but just wondering why this occured?

Forgot, one more thing, is there any way to disable the rev limiter when the truck is in park, keeping it from going over 4000rpm's?

Erock509, the programming options with the Superchips are limited to probably less than 1% of what can actually be programmed on your truck.

Nearly everything can be custom programmed by someone with a "starscan" tool (i.e. a dealership). If you're the type that likes to tinker with the programming of features (like many of us are) I recommend becoming aquainted with your local dealership service manager and a couple mech's (for me this meant buying a couple lunches). I have seen the starscan in action, it is really cool. Everything is menu-driven, point and click, the entire truck is run by computer and this thing programs it all.

That said, the Superchips does "simple" reprogramming (wheel diameter size, shift points, etc.), but don't think it will do anything remotely complex or not directly related to performance, it won't.

My rev limiter was disables as soon as I programed mine,no probs at all.As far as the tranny hanging in first longer, this is normal as mine does it too. Mines been in a year now and havent had a problem yet. I am just guessing but I would say its a result of higher line pressure and faster servo actuation (firmer shifts) but this is just a guess
