Default Trailer Receiver Drop for Ram

I have an 04 4x4 quad cap with 20 inch wheels and I want to get a drop trialer receiver for the factory hitch. I was wondering how mani inch drop I should get for pulling a utility trailer. Also, where is a good place to look to purchase a quality receiver.

You mean a drop hitch (ball hitch, ball mount). The receiver is the thing that is attached to your truck. Your receiver should be a 2 inch. Hitches you can get almost anywhere. They also have adjustable ones. But if you want one specifically for your trailer, then find out what your trailer ride height is and go from there. I suggest getting all the specs from your trailer first. Even better if you have the trailer. Your trailer will detrmine what strength and size ball you need as well as the kind of hitch you should use.

I have an 07 4x2 QC 1500. I got a 4.5" drop hitch with an interchangeable ball mounted to it. I got this drop because it seemed to fit as a good "catch all" for anything I may tow with it. Plus the interchangeable ball is swapped within seconds, so making sure I have the right ball size (huh huh) shouldn't be a problem.

uh depending on your setup amd trailer weight you may not need a drop. my camper is 7500, and i have the timbren SES added to mine to help with stability. I am wantin to go a little higher but I may not be able to with my overload supports, and my sway control.

If your trailer is heavy enogh it may squat the back end down. Also properly loading the trailer may help. unless the trailer is sitting like \ this, you should be okay

For my 1500w/20" wheelsI use a 5-1/4" drop which works well for the 3 different types of trailersI tug around. While for the same trailers, my business partner has to use a 7.5" for his 06 2500 QC.

To figure what drop you need, make sure your trailer is level front to back, measure from the ground up to where the top of the trailer ball will be in the hitch of the trailer. This is the top of ball height. You need a receiver ball mount that will get as close to this T.O.B. height as you can. Most camp supply stores or auto parts stores will carry what you are looking for. Just make sure it is rated for the weight of your utility trailer. Red
