The dealer (if its a dodge dealer) is feeding you a line. The speedo is recal'd through the PCM, using the Star programmer or if you had a superchips programmer it can be done through that also. You will need the "revolutions per mile" figure from the tire manufacturer.
You may also be able to get the figure from "tirerack.com" if they carry theat particular brand of tire.

Yeah any dodge dealer should have a starscan tool to recalibrate your speedometer. Should only take them a couple minutes to plug it in and switch the tire size in the computer.

Here is the recipe.

1) Have the tech plug his hand held into the OBD port and turn it on. A menu
screen comes up with a bunch of info. Select YES to go to next screen.

2) On this screen select menu item 1, "DRB III Standalone" to go to next screen.

3) On this screen select menu item 1, "1998-2005" to go to next screen.

4) On this screen select menu item 1, "All" to go to next screen.

5) On this screen select menu item 5, "Antilock Brakes" to go to next screen.

6) On this screen select menu item 9, "Miscellaneous" to go to next screen.

7) On this screen select menu item 2, "Set Pinion Factor" to go to next screen.

8) On this screen there are a several tire sizes and Other. Select menu item 8,
"Other" to go to next screen.

9) On this screen there are two items, an Axle Size, (9.25" on the 1500's and
10.5" on the 25/3500's) and Other. Select menu item 1, "9.25" Axle" (10.5 in
your case) to go to next screen.

10) You have now arrived at the point in this process where you will enter the
revolutions per mile for your tire size. Select the menu box for RPM. It will
indicate 400. Here is where the tech will change the revs per mile with either
the up or down arrow. It will take a while to go from 400 to 604 (for the BFG
315's) so be patient. As you are waiting on him to finish, take this time to let
him know that he shouldn't charge you more than say $20.00, especially since you
trained him on this procedure.

11) The last step is to select "OK" and the changes will be excepted, then the
hand held will display "Reprogramming Successful".

Good luck!

There is an online Java calculator to compute revolutions per mile at:

Thanks for all the info. I thought that the dealer could fix the problem. Now I just have toconvince them that they can do it. As for having a programer I tried to find one that wiould work with my truck and could not find one, becauseofr the 4.7L motor. Unless anyone know of one that I could buy that would work with my truck?

The Superchips programmer will do it as I understand it (I don't have one, but read it here). You can get it done at the dealer, usually for free, or buy a Superchips---seems like a lot to spend in order to do that, but other options are available also in terms of modifiable parameters.
Hank set you up with the drill down above, just print that and take it to the dealer

I checked with superchips and they said they are only for 5.7L and a few other motors not the 2005 4.7L. That is were the problem comes in Hypertech is the same way, for some reason they both skip the 4.7L. I am going to call the dealer to ask about recal, But if i know the dealers around here they are all going to say the same thing they do not do it. even if I have the instructions.

Just an update. I went to the dealer and asked face to face about the calibrating the speedo they said yes we do it. cost $45. This is the same dealer when called said that they do not calibrate speedos. So I guess sometimes it just pays to show up at the dealership. Thanks for all the help.

going from 245s to 265s should not cause your speedo to get off that much. maybe a mile or two off. for 45 bucks i wouldnt worry about it.
