New 1500 Hemi on the way
I finally bit the bullet and decided to trade in my 99 Durango with 125,000 miles
After picking all the options I wanted, the local dealer couldn't find what I wanted anywhere locally. So, I have to wait 6-8 weeks for them to build me one. I'm not particularly happy, but as long as I get exactly what I want, I will be satisfied.
I've been reading up on the multi displacement Hemi and some sites have said it needs different, non standard oil. Several point to "5W-20." Is this true?
If you also had to pick one or two quick and dirty, bold on aftermarket "upgrades," what would you pick?

My MDS Hemi requires 5W-20, and I assume they are all the same. As for upgrades, I bolted on a set of Mopar Nerf Bars and love them. After that, I got a Line-X bedliner. Next up is probably the AT-3030 muffler for me.
I also was told 6-8 weeks for delivery. It only took 5 weeks from the day I ordered to the day I drove it away. Why are you upset that it had to be ordered? You are getting a truck with just what you want on it, nothing else. Be happy! Good luck with it. You will enjoy it. Red
I recently bought an '07 1500 QC 4x4 w/Hemi and I just did my first service on it. All oil changes and tire rotations are included with my purchase, so that's pretty handy. I'm pretty sure all of the Hemi's require 5W20 as you've stated.
As for upgrades. I put on a set of Nasta Nerf Bars on mine and love them. They are stainless all the way down to the brackets and guaranteed not to corrode. I also bought a set of Husky Liners for the front and back. These things are a bit pricey, but we have a lot of snow here so it definitely saves your interior. The fit was amazing too since they make them specifically in different models for each application. Next up for me is an ArE Stage 2 cold air intake, levelling kit, and spray in box liner.
Congrats on the purchase. I'm sure you'll be happy with it. I'm happy with mine so far, except of course for those horrible chrome clad cheapo wheels they come with. Once the snow melts here, I'll be picking up a new set of wheels with rubber to fix that.

Congrats on your purchase, if i may ask what the dealer gave you for your durango, im not sure i want to give up my 97 grand cherokee w/ 109000 miles just yet, they would probably give me 2000 or something close.

That is exactly what I ordered.
Uh oh. Which wheels did you get? The standard 17" x 8.0" Aluminum Wheels?
